No, terpenes are mostly taste and aroma. Seems to have read they also factor into the entourage effect. But not sure on that

So the frosty appearance comes from having lots of trichomes, which contain the terpenes.
The trichomes are transparent initially and then turn milky white. Both stages look frosty. Finally, they turn amber.
