got me stumped
It shows 241F when set to 230F with oil inside.
I’m checking the 208F infusion temp now, but it seems like it’s working properly, or at least within a range that wouldn’t cause issues.
Well it shows 210 on the 208 infusion setting, so I don’t think that’s it.
I’ll wait for the t check to test the bud potency and the oil potency. Maybe my stock sucks.
Hmm weird did you use a moisture meter with the prongs and test the inside of your bud for moisture content? Or just the RH in the jars/bags? Oh and silly question are you grinding it semi evenly before decarbing?
I make sure the moisture content is at most 12% before curing with the poke/probe meter. I didn’t check it again before grinding, just went from the RH reading.
I ground it up like I was going to roll
It up so it was ground to a smaller size. Nothing you could pick up as a single piece. Do you think maybe that it’s ground up too much?
Too hot. 170 or so. 4-8 hours. 235-240 30 minutes decarb. Honey infuse 115 8 hours.
Moderate to semi fine.
Dry. Go more.
Lecithin a must.
Mine is ground also with a grinder no issue there, infuison is at 180 and works well and yes the Lecithin…
Yea man. Too hot burns off some goodies. Already decarbed so a slow steady infuse is best to preserve terps. I run up to 12 hours at times. Just like a pot roast. Low and slow. When decarb let the weed get hot along with the unit. Dont drop it in hot. Mix every 10 minutes in decarb.
Dont lick the spoons…lmao.
Hehehe ah nope no spoon samples, doing some hash plant infusion tomorrow eve, we need more gummies.
Man by the time i finish my oil/gummy making I am TOAST
Yes same here lots of clean up with not much left after.
What does this mean? It should be drier than 12%?
I use pure MCT oil to infuse, what’s the lecithin for?
Just dry the weed. I dont test percentages. Lecithin helps the oils combine. Helps attach to water molecules for gummy making. Assists in digestion. You can mix water and oil. Lecithin makes that happen.
Gotcha, should I use lecithin when I infuse the oil with the herb, or after when making recipes?
I like it when infusing. Any moisture left in flower will not affect the cannabis oil bonding and floating suspended in coconut, olive etc.
Thank you that makes sense. How much do you use per cup of oil? I’ll give that a try.
Ok here is my standard. 1 oz to 14 oz oil at least. Almost out right now.
Each pod in my levo takes 1/4oz. 2 pods. 3-4 hours 170. Remove pods and press oil out of weed. Dump and refill fresh. 3-4 hours 170 second round. Done. STRONG! Should taste nutty. Not burnt hence dont drop weed to decarb into hot container. 2 tblspn lecithin is added at start. I go a little heavy. 1 will do.
If the DECARB was successfull the oil will be very very potent. Decarb is the most important part. Too long cooks off terpenes and cannabinoids. Too hot cooks it all off. Running the temp up with weed in oven or machine works better for me. The oil can only suspend so much cannabis oil. Diminishing returns if overload the oil. I find the 1 oz works perfect to 14 oz flower. Good ripened flower. If larf and popcorns/sugar leaves I go 1.5-2oz. This requires 1-2 more runs. Just how I do it. Coconut can be eaten with a spoon. Well done and it has no horrible taste.
