Ecru infuser first try- didn’t go well. Suggestions for time and temp?

My first time didn’t go well. I used 14G of ground flower with 2 cups of Mct oil.

It decarbed for about an hour at 240F then Infused for 2 hours at 210F. Is this right?

Based from My calculations ( being very conservative until my tcheck gets here) I felt a slight buzz for maybe 30 minutes from what should have been 8mg thc. I get much more from one hit from a dry herb vape.

The oil came out really dark and when I opened it after it decarbed it was smoking and all brown. The oil which should have been 210F after infusion should practically burn, but it didn’t when I stuck my finger in it.

I was thinking about getting a thermometer and putting 1” of water in there to test various temps to see if it’s off to Compensate.

I was thinking about returning it and ordering the levo, but I’m pretty sure I just don’t know what I am doing.

Any advice?

Way too long on the decarb my guy. I usually run it for the 30 minutes at 230°or 240° whatever is on the top sticker and then check it and mix it around. If it needs more time I’ll start in 10 minutes intervals. Never had to run more than 15 extra. I set mine to infuse at 208° for about 4 hours. No idea the potency but if you overdo, you’ll know it (well no you won’t while you’re orbiting the earth lol).

For infusing get a Levo II, you won’t regret it. I also use mine for decarbing and it does a decent job.

I use the Levo ll myself and decarb for 30 minutes at 240 degrees. It’s expensive but it’s great. Set it and forget it

Thanks everyone. So I’ll run the other half Oz through the machine. I’ll set it for 230F for 30 minutes, then do the infusion at 208 for 4 hours and see how it goes. If it doesn’t work out I’ll likely grab the LEVO.

It’s also headache heavy on this first batch, I don’t like it at all, haha.

I don’t know guys, the 2nd time I went with 225F/30min and it still came out smoking and brown.

It’s now doing the infusion but I’m not hopeful.

Possibly, if it doesn’t turn out better I’ll just send er back.

I found a tutorial for the instapot with mason jars and may try that, I already have one.

If that doesn’t work well LEVO here I come, haha.

Out of curiosity, if the oil is really dark when done, is that a bad sign?

For decarbing and infusing with oil it’s a 2-step ez process.
I’ve done it a few times now :green_heart::metal:t2:

I’m not familiar with MCT oils.
Have only infused coconut oil this far :green_heart::metal:t2:

I said screw it… buy once cry once :rofl: and got the LEVO 2. Itll be here in a few days. I also got all the goodies and got the gummie kit too. Im trying to keep it as simple stupid as possible. One and done. Ive only decarbed concentrates and i think ive even screwed that up.

Yeah, I’ve got the edibles cooling and will try it. I’m expecting much though as it’s like the same as last time.

With the sale, it’s like $218 more for the levo2 with the gummy kit. What gets me is the price of the mix.

You’re right though, likely had I went that route I would be having this issue. I notice the levo2 infuses at a much lower temp. I’d love to see the golden color for sure. I’ll know in about 1.5 hours.

So this time around I actually feel
Something, not as much as anticipated but enough.

When the Tcheck comes in I will check the bud percentage and the oil percentage to see how much of a loss there is. Lowering the decarb to 225 and 30 minutes helped. Well see.

How wet or dry is your bud? Fresh or cured? I’m wondering if your moisture content or lack there of is causing an issue for you.

It was 62% before I ground it up. Well cured, 4 months.

Hmm I would probably reach out to them then, it’s possible you have a defective unit. If not, maybe they’ll have some insight to what’s happening.

I checked it with a Taylor electronic meat thermometer. The decarb cycle set at 230F was exactly 230F empty. I’m checking it now with oil temperature.
