DWC/hydro 5 gallon bucket advice

Hey y’all I have been reading and seeing DWC/ hydroponics when done right are huge yielders

I have a design in mind for the tote, but im not sure how to mix my nutrients into the tote while adjusting pH also. I guess I’m asking for someone to educate me about DWC hydroponics schedule and if I could use coco , and what size net pod I would need for 7.5 gallon tote. Would I need to empty the tote an refill it during grow for any reason?

morning @DanB I can share how I grow DWC and maybe help you get the grow you want…I mix my nutes in an external 5 gal bucket and pump it in/out using a aquarium stick pump…I use a 12 gal tote with 3 inch net pots with a 2 inch rockwool cube in the pot with neoprene collars… 1 plant in each tote… I believe in exchanging the tote every 7 days to reset the nutrient values otherwise you don’t really know what is left …others never change just add nutrients …

5.8 but as said, allow a swing. I do my mix in a few half full gallon jugs to keep the nutrients separate, shake well, dump in, fill to water level with a bottle of tap, wait a min or two, PH and adjust. You can PH in the res as long as you understand PH up/down should be done in a ml at most unless you know your setup as a ml has swung my ph by 2. before.

in my case it definitely is…

Even if not I think it’s easier than soil especially if you micro manage. I can’t dump a res of soil and redo

Well i bought the equipment to do 2 5 gal buckets. And have 2 extra buckets to switch em out for cleaning. So my question now is, when i fill with water while the plant is a seedling and smail infill the water sonit touches the bottom of the net pot correct? Then as it gets bigger a lil lowerlike 2 in away from net pot?

something to consider is that if you get a good grow going a plant can drink a gallon a day for about 3 months…and every time you pick your plant up and move it to another container you will cause stress and if she gets big it will be a challenge to do this…

I didnt think about that… ill see if i can add a valve to the bottom of the bucket for drainage

here is my 12 gallon tote that I grow in…this allows 5-6 gallons of nutrients to be in there…

Correct. Up to net pot to get the little white roots and then string them along by lowering the water. 2" is reasonable

Thank you. How strong of an air pump do you use for 2 buckets

a good rule of thumb is… air 1 liter output for every 4 liter nutrient…
