New here but thought I would share my recent fridge build. You guys are likely no strangers to the “fridge” concept. I chose it due to privacy concerns as well as scent control. Here are the pictures of it’s progress. Just a few loose ends to tie up and it will be up and running. Please let me know what you think or if you have any questions/suggestions.
Holy smokes love that idea,
Love this.
That is awesome! I love it!
I love the fridge idea, I built one 15 years ago long before LED came along. It was a pain in the ass when it came to venting heat but I got a little yell out of her. I’m excited to see how yours works please keep us posted.
Thanks! I ran a trial today and stuck my last potted plant (Wedding Cake) in and ran it all day, I may need to add a second fresh air tube to help bring the temp down. Temp was about 90*. Hoping that a second inlet along with the hydroponic system will hopefully bring the temp into the 75* range. The fan is 290 CFM, and with the 2” trap style inlet is pulling the negative pressure I was shooting for. Will take a bit to get it totally dialed in, might upgrade to a MiGro light in near future but the Spider Farm SF 2000 has done well for me in the past.
So ubgot money to blow any spydr farmer is in the next leauge expensive light and alot of weed is not needed… Looks cool but cant s
Do much more then 1 tiny mult plant scrog or single scrog dont over oack that thing … Are u useing the frigdes cooling element to cool as well i think that would be best benifit… Also its love hate because u got ur vent rught by the acs expell point unless u re dirrected it to bittom which i would definatley do if i could direct the cold air to bottom exhaust at top
If your at 90 ur gonna have isssues i cant get a bubble cloner to pop but 10% in 78 °… what were the res temps… If that was the res twmps the ibside was higher i dont recomend unless u can incorporrate multi fridge system with a couple with acs or built in system running … And the idea behind a fridge ac is to be able to be balanced without much fluctuation …mif your taking (for example) if your exhausting all the airthe ac can pump out every… So often the fridge wont turn off in that case the fridge weeather its the compressor condensir evaporator or ehat somethings going to fail on your cooling and thats gonna be a death sentence in hydro… Id do this in living soil alot more temoerature for giving
that is definitely thinking out side the box. very impressive
Id say thats thinking inside the box not in a bad way
@fano_man, that is my exhaust system up top, vent is located at bottom, but is not visible, will be adding a second as the room it is in can stay cooler with no issues which should bring my temp down. The fridge hasn’t ran in a year, so HVAC is gutted, but there are alternative cooling systems I could set up, but if I can get it to maintain without a add on cooling system then that is a bigger win. I set it up so that it can either grow two in a SCROG or upto 10 in a SOG. Versatility is valuable for any grow op, can always add another unit. Either way this thing is a total experiment, I see many people attempt to set up fridges but not many put thought into how to maximize the space. Fridge is currently in a climate controlled garage, but still need the stealth capabilities due to nosey neighbors, family gatherings and most importantly children. If I didn’t have a need to conceal I would just turn half the garage into a grow room (maybe one day lol)
iinsanei suggest you indipendently frame out a 10x5 inyour grage and put a window shacker in the side and call it a day. You can throw the fridges innthere abd cycle them inside your new bix you made the idea is to minimalize the cooling space size unfortunatley the whole principal hehind hydro the whole space includingthe res well … Atleast the res temps need to stay below 75 i u will be fighting a loosibg battle of root slime take head bro u water caaanot get high roots will rot thats ur only thing u have an option but chillers for res temps are expensive thats the onky gayrntee this will work unlessbu independently cool the water in such a highly insulated box
Its alot more then a fan to succedd in hydro im sorry just trying to help you not fall short because a hugh res temp will do exactly that
@Grandaddy013 whats up bro can you help this man out on dwc res temps @Jbum u still around got any res temp issues easy fixits i know who… @peachfuzz can u open you super hydro vast knowledge for this man
@fano_man definitely appreciate the help man, I’m gonna look into better options if we ever change living situations. For now this needs to work, I filled one tank this morning and will monitor over next 48 hours to with full system on and running to see what the water temp averages as well as humidity. This thing is in total trial/testing stage. Anticipating another month before this thing is potentially ready to take on a trial grow.
For the ventilation system to work the air outsidde your suckijg neess to well under your target area constabtly and u can vent and suck periodiclyu can frame that out with 2 pallets and w peices of dry wall and window shaker so 3$ + 3$ + 200$ (ac) some screws some elbow grese ajd ur in there problems solved blow the ac into your new box have the acs in wibdowu make innthe dry wall sprayfoam for voaids around ac and u could just leave the doors open and vent outside your new bow then u can keep addind but ac is gonna be a must either ac or chiller take your pic.
Chiller can be distributed to your multi reses easybut not cheap
You could also put reflectix over the plant container’s and move that air pump up top…
In hydro, my biggest problem was water temperature UNTIL I got a chiller. One chiller won’t work for multiple reservoirs, unless they are all on the same nute schedule. @peachfuzz does a frozen bottle trick, but it didn’t work for my situation. I don’t use a chiller in veg, because I keep my veg room at 65°f. I have 3 chillers in the flower room.
@fano_man I see you got out of ILGM jail. Welcome back
