New grower this is my first grow, I am about 3 weeks into veg. i had stunted my plants as seedlings from underwatering and they are just now starting to thrive, i just finished my 30 Gallon DWC build, pretty sure im using a gun to crack a nut but i wanted to see how long i could stay in veg and i needed the root space the 5 gal buckets werent gonna cut it, anyways check it out let me know what you think its my first build and im looking ffor issues and ideas, the ilets are for both anchoring yo-yos and if things gets crazy i can suspend the lid for nute/water changes etc

That’s fantastic. I started to use a cooler for my setup but opted for the totes.
Now if you wanted to scrog, you can build a frame out of 1/2 pvc and attach it to the lid of the cooler.

thank you! i settled on a cooler it was a cheap option but it also made sense i cant tell you how tired i am already of running ice packs to keep my res temps low i live in the desert, so far my temps stay around 65-68 and i havent had to ice yet

hey spy im curious about your input on a scrog mount for my setup, im hoping you have ideas for a mounting system from the lid, and i have 3 backup colemans i picked up on clearance for $22 each so im not afraid to cut/drill holes

Pvc pipe and connectors . I built 2 6x4 for fairly inexpensive price

my issue is more about finding a way to mount the frame of the scrog (graduating from 37 x 17" to 47x27") to the lid of my DWC res

Lay the pvc on lid
Drill a hole on each side of the pvc in two different places about 15” apart (4 holes)
Use a zip tie to go through the lid, back out through the lid top and fasten the pvc to the lid.
Then it’s just a matter of building it up to make it as big as you want.

i love your setup, i guess my biggest concern is if a free standing setup like this would also work with hydroponics in a DWC? considering the top is going to rise up when its time to change nutes
You may be able to help rez temps by adding a standing reservoir outside of the grow space. Generally that will keep things a bit cooler as well. For what you are doing; incremental improvements are where it’s at.
That said I had no choice but to buy a chiller.

i’m a firm believer there are no stupid questions, with that said …can i just toss a sub pump in a 5 gallon next to my 35 gallon and run an in/out to create circulation?..or is that just silly? is there such a thing as a 1 plant RDWC?

Yes there is and if you had a chance to add a pipe to connect those two then sump pump to the other it would work out great.
This also give you the ability to add liquid/nutrients to the system without disturbing your plants

ok so im ready to start making holes but i want to make sure i have a better understanding of what im doing before i do anything and i really have no where else to ask these questions so i appreciate all the help, there isnt a whole lot of info availble on single tank RDWC. So the volume of water in the two different sized tanks do not matter just the level of the water as long as the 35 gallon and the 5 gallon tanks are at the same water level it should work. am i understanding that correctly?

Well i just thought of another question. with only a single tank can you recirculate in itself if like you had the water pump at bottom of tank far left and the line pumping in straight down from top on far right? Basically taking from the bottom and putting on top. Im hoping i explained that well enough.

This is my system without the air pumps. If you can run pvc and do plumbing, you could use this idea and run the plumbing however to suit your need.

Either way the levels will stay the same, they share liquid.
U less your pump pushes too much water that it can’t return fast enough
