Hello all, the time has come. I’ve had great success with my wedryerxl in years past with 1 very full outdoor plant. This year i have 3 with 2 different strains outdoor. I am going to use my dryer but was thinking of using a screen or mesh to dry the others. I know a lot of people hang them. What is a good method in doing a bulk dry? My thought was to use mesh and have a fan circulating the air around. I know i say bulk for 3, its not a lot to some but, for me its plenty big.
Going to start in the next few days
Thanks
Welcome ! My thoughts are whether you hang it to dry whole plant or limbs or the screen method. The key is to shoot for a slow dry 8 to 10 days. 67 to 70 degrees humidity around 50 percent. Also little air movement. These numbers can vary a little. Dark place is also good. Hope that helps good luck.
My plan is to dry the limbs. I guess its 6 of one half dozen the other, space and smell is a factor as well. I havent done it on a rack\screen before and i thought it could be easier to be able to dry in a small space and control the sweet , sweet distinct odor. I could try both and decide. Wasnt sure of any cons
Thank you for replying
My last 3 harvest I’ve over dried. used fan to move the air around
@Royc. Doing my first indoor drying in years. I’ve read everywhere here to use a fan for air circulation but dont point it directly at the buds. Any idea why using a fan over dried your buds? I’m concerned about the same thing happening. Ty
I put the fan directly on the Bud and it was colas argh
Thanks everyone. Good info even over drying, sorry about that one, lesson learned. Thats what i dont want either. Figured i could stack racks of screen and consolidate space.
we need to talk about our mess-ups so no-one makes the same mistakes
Was about to start the same topic, but I saw this, so I’ll chime in here. I have 5 outdoor ready to harvest in a week or so. Gotta do it inside, smell is something I’d like to control, but not the biggest concern. I don’t have a spare room, but don’t mind it in my bedroom.
To control the darkness though, I’m thinking about grabbing another tent…if you see my indoor thread with the clones and such, would understand that the tent may come in handy down the road anyway.
I don’t want to arm the new tent with exhaust and intake fans to the extent of another grow tent (not yet anyway).
So the question is, what problems might I run into drying a decent yield from 5 outdoor. I can run oscillating fans, keep the tent open a crack where the light won’t be getting in. Any thoughts are appreciated. Also, those I tag if you can find the time to help the original post, I’m sure it would be appreciated. @kdawg @Covertgrower @dbrn32 @Hellraiser
A couple pics to give an idea about what I need to dry…
You will definitely want to watch your humidity and air flow. Last thing you want is a mold issue. Those conditions are the most important for avoiding it.
Watch for pests, not sure if you have anything inside growing, but they travel fast. Otherwise that’s all I can think of.
Cool. I’m going to do a bud wash before anything comes indoors for drying. If push comes to shove, I’ll grab the intake/exhaust fans needed to deal with humidity. Thanks for the input, definitely leaning towards drying in a tent now. Will give me somewhere to put the new clones if they outgrow the 1x4 they are in before the indoor that just flipped to flower is done
Nice gtow @29sgordo29 im about a week ahead . Ladies are going for the snip tomorrow
I have done this. They turned out great. Made it real easy to check moisture level by dropping a bud in a jar with a hygrometer.
I would just use exhaust with carbon filter and passive intake. Then maybe put small fan like clip on in bottom to circulate.
@BobbyDigital thats a Bentley of what i was thinking and those buds are insane!! I was going rack similar and use a box fan. I like that a lot!
It’s just metal, wire shelves with a screen taped over the top. Then used my exhaust for a little airflow.
