I’m drying in a spare room.
AC is set at 64 and the dehumidifier is set at High. What am I doing wrong??
I’m not seeing the problem? Please elaborate.
Shouldn’t the buds go in the trays instead of hanging on them?
Top picture shows 77%RH at 63.9 degrees, I think.
Room sealed off?
Else, how long was the 77% reading showing?
Just hung? WHEN?
Room is sealed off. Day 3 it has been fluctuating. L,Ethe room now is 68 degrees and 67 rh.
Have you tried moving the hygrometer to a more neutral place in the room, rather than on top of a basket of wet buds (the sensor vents are on the back of the meter)? How much water is your dehumidifier pulling out of the air (how much are you dumping, how often do you have to empty, etc?
I’ll try moving the hydrometer, about a quart or more a day
Too envious of your set up… I always have the problem of it being too hot in the summer in “dry room”… Its usually at the low of 78 to 80 +…no a/c in that room…(maybe this next year 2024?..) Love that spiral dry set up cool!!
Thank you sir, I got so lucky this year the AC and Dehumidifier was from my sister in law. She had these lying around.
Another friend of mine gave me the hanging screen.
Last year I had nothing. To dry and cure my one plant and it turned out to be the best weed I’ve ever had.
Lemongrass was the strain
I seem to love the citrus taste in weed.
I was a little overwhelmed this year my one plant (I had 5 total) Notorious thc its harvest wet trimmed with small branches was around 5lbs.
One more to go this morning.
Trainwreak strain. I’ll post a photo of this beautiful frosty queen.
Oh man Train wreck is a classic…A buddy I had before I grew myself had some wicked Train wreck…I love a citrus taste too…I love the berries and the chocolate tastes too!
I made cannabutter out of an ounce of one.
Holy shit it was an all afternoon race. I haven’t tried it since.
Great! I have yet to venture into the world of edibles even though Ive been wanting to try it!! Glad to hear you had a nice trip…
morning OldBuds…I run into the same issue…the AC and humidifier fight each other…humidifier makes heat when taking moisture out and the AC will add some moisture back in…the best I can do in summer when drying and the humidity is high is 70F with 50RH…winter dries are better because of the low humidity and no need for the AC…if you have a house HVAC vent open to the room, close that vent because the humidifier will work best if you don’t bring in any new air…
When the temps drop, the relative humidity goes up, so it might look like the AC is adding moisture, but it’s not, it works just like the dehumidifier does. Modern ones might use evaporate techniques instead of a drip pan to remove the water taken out of the air, but that’s done outside.
If you’re only removing a quart of water a day, that’s not much at all. Maybe check the filters &/or coils on the dehumidifier? At 60% RH, my dehumidifier can pull a quart in about an hour or 2.
No open vents.
Thanks for taking your time to write.
It’s been a good season for growing I had a great time.
The stress of drying has me up at nights…
I’m glad I’m not alon
It hasn’t got a filter. I’ll check the coils I cleaned the front fins a few weeks ago. I’ll check it again. Tks.
Should I blow the coils out with air?
If you’re very careful (that’s how I do it). The fins on the coils are very, very fragile. Dent them, even with air pressure, and the gaps smash closed and it loses efficiency. They’re also sharp, so watch your fingers.
very few growers can achieve the perfect environment … as long as you don’t let the humidity get up around 70% you will get it dried…just watch for mold if you RH is on the high side…after all we want the cured product to be around 60%
I used a paint brush just now very little dust on the front fins.
The front is the exhaust I assume? The back fins where the intake air first comes in is where dirt accumulation will affect moisture removal. The cold coils that the moisture in the air condensates on…
A brush would work good, but if it’s running and the coils are properly chilled and wet, it’ll kinda be a sticky mess. I’m gonna steal @Cap_Ron dehum pic again (not pickin’ on ya grobro, it’s just such a great example )
Click on the pics at the end…
No the front is the intake. The exhaust side isn’t blowing a lot of hot air.
