Dry sift question

So my trim tray has a 150 micron screen at the bottom. I sifted my trim over that and collected what came through. I just got a 75 micron screen and sifted it again. My question is, which is the “good” stuff? The stuff that passed the 150 and not the 75? Or the stuff that collects under the 75? Which will make better hash?

The more fine the screen, the less plant material you will have in your hash.

Next question, should I get another screen between the 150 and 75? Maybe a 120 or 100? I have quite a bit that didn’t pass through the 75.

What’s the end goal for the keif?

I want to try rolling it into hash with a bottle of hot water.

You can do a dry ice sift if you have enough plant material. I use a 90 micron bag. Dry out the plant almost totally crispy, freeze, break up ice chunks and put both in bag and shake over a smooth table or surfacen for about 20 seconds. The plant material will turn to dust and fall through if shaking too vigorously or too long

To make hash, you want the highest grade kief - like 70 micron sift - which is mostly trichomes. I’ve tried making it with lower grade stuff - like 150 micron sift) and it gets very hard and crumbly, not at all pliable (due top all the plant material contaminating the trichomes)

I have found that 120-72 is a good range for pressing. Anything under that I save for cooking.

I personally make 3 grades. First shake fine. Hash. Second shake larger…good for joints with more green. 3rd shake green and used for oils. Just what works for me. Dry ice.
