Have the bags. Harvest is in a few weeks. I have seen some folks say “hang it for a week then bag it and move on”.
Any advice on using the Grove Bags? This will be my first harvest, so still moving around in the dark.

Dry and cure at 60°f/60%rh for about 10 to 12 days. Final trim and bag em up. In about a week to 2 weeks later behold the jewels of your hard work
How long you dry them depends on you temperature and humidity you want to get the buds to about 62% before you bag them.
After youve dried, sweat the buds in a paper back for about 10 hours to sweat out excess moisture. Place buds in bag, squeeze out excess air and seal. Come back 24 hours later, open the bag, squeeze out excess air and seal. Let the curing begin!
You will need to hang and dry or lay flat on newspaper and dry. Drying is the first step. Use of the grove bags is for storage after it’s been properly dried.
I use 32 oz. Mason jars for storage. There’s a process that takes approximately 90 days to properly cure cannabis. Weed will dry enough to smoke after a week or two of hanging. But to properly cure and get the best taste and experience(not necessarily stoned) as Jimmy once said you should read this….
I dry at 60-65F @ 60% RH with a fan blowing gently in the area but not directly at the hanging reefer until a moisture meter reads between 10-12 percent moisture. That’s converts to about 58-62% humidity in bag. Perfect for curing.
I then paper bag it for 24 hours to stabilize the humidity.
Then to grove bags. Making sure to leave air in the bag with the buds…Do not squeeze out the extra air.
I then heat seal, as recommended, for at least 1 month any less it’s a but harsh and green tasting.
Moisture meters I use:
Never squeeze the air out of the grove bags! Just seal them with about 20% air space at top of bag so they set up thier designed atmosphere" toss them in a box in a cool dark place and your done. After a month there ready to smoke i feel after 2 months they are cured.
I push excess air out. The bag is going to swell a little naturally. Ive done it since ive started and always get the same amazing results @Audiofreak
Everyone has their own special way. Fun to experiment, but get a wood moisture meter. No guess work. When they hit about 61 to 62% rh or 11 or 12 on your meter, tey are ready to bag. I have the Wedryer xl for my dry. It has worked great for me for a slow steady dry. My 2 cents.
I just got mine out last night. user beware, that thing shoots out of it’s carrying case like you wouldn’t believe! think grown ups 2 and there’s a raft in that? I always mess up somewhere in the dry/cure. it never really maintains that nice bud smell. sometimes hay like, other times I honestly don’t know what the smell turns into. leaves me puzzled everytime!
Mine has hay smell. My nose doesn’t work like it use to. After curing it gets better.
Ck with groves and (unless they have changed) they will tell you not to squeese the air out.
I feel the same way about mine. not sure if it was covid or anodizing at my last job with sub par ventilation. I can’t smell a gallon of chlorine opened right next to me, but I can still pick up trace amounts of a buffalo wing from across the room
I’m striving to grow a batch like I used to buy from my buddy. within one minute of the bag being open, people within 30 ft are picking up the smell
Gotta love the wings!
just the thought of the franks red hot mixing with the butter, let the drool puddle begin!
@Audiofreak @ChittyChittyBangin that’s the same thing grove CS told me… Leave air in and heat seal it to truly use the “technology” of the bag to it’s fullest… Even ziplocks leak apparently. The swelling and the extra air left are part of its process of allowing it to “breathe”.
You dudes talking about things having a fragrance. I too am an early COVID victim when you lost you sense of smell. It took nine months to come back and what came back is not right!
My whole family had covid over Thanksgiving, still have diminished smell and taste.
I have a Wedyer Xl you have to rotate your buds everday or oneside will come out flat so for that reason i just hang mine back in tent with lights off small fan blowing around bottom to prevent mold got to have some air circulating and got. MY basement drys a little faster than most humidity is 45 and temperature is 68 so usually after 5 days i check with moisture meter unless i grow alot i don’t cure it straight to smoking at 50 to 60 a quater i just hand it to my wife and daughter so they don’t have to pay for it
I had COVID early on before vaccine. I did eventually get the vaccine and all the boosters. Due another shot now. Like @BlueRidgeDog lost my smelling ability for about 12 months. Slowly came back but still not as good as before. Olfactory support cells, not neurons, are vulnerable to novel coronavirus infection. It takes time to regenerate those cells. And you can teach them by introducing them to some essential oils over time.
