Double Bubble! The Bubblegum Twins

This is my first grow ever. I live in the states and ordered a 3 pack of Bubblegum seeds. I chose the cash payment option and received the seeds 17 days from the day I mailed the payment. Since this is my first grow, I decided to start by germinating just 1 seed. This is where the begins…

I put about 3oz. of regular tap water in a small mason jar and placed it on my thermostat controlled heat mat. I put the temperature probe in the water and set the thermostat to 73°F (23°C), which is generally considered to be “room temperature”. Once the water reached the desired temperature, I dropped 1 of the seeds into the water. I waited a full 24 hours, actually it was about 26 hours, and transferred the seed into a Rapid Rooter(R) Natural Plant Starter plug, which I first soaked in Rx Green Solutions LIFE Cloning Solution (NPK 0.5-1-0.5). I know soaking the plug wasn’t necessary, but I did it anyway. I then tore a small piece of the plug off the bottom and placed it into the hole in the top of the plug. I did this because there was no tap root yet and I didn’t want the tiny seed to drop too far down in the plug. Putting the small piece I tore off in the hole first, allowed me to place the seed about 1cm deep in hole. I then tore off another small piece of the plug and used that to cover the hole so that the seed was buried in the plug. I placed the plug 6" below 2 23w 65K spiral cfl bulbs, since I couldn’t find a 36 watt tube cfl without ordering one online, and left the lights on constantly. About 36 hours later, I noticed the small piece I tore off and covered the hole with appeared to be getting pushed out of the hole. I left it be and checked on it when I got up the following morning. To my delight, she had sprouted! I had never seen a marijuana sprout before and couldn’t help taking a few pictures.

Later that day, I came back to check on her and took a few more pictures. As I was admiring the pictures of my little girl, I noticed something odd. I zoomed in and saw what looked like 2 sprouts. I went to check on my little girl again and found that I had twins! I had never seen anything like this before. I did some research and decided to separate the twins, to give the runt her best chance at servival. A day later and both of my girls seem to be doing well! I’ll provide updates on the twins throughout the grow.

Here are some pics. Pretty cool having twins on my very first grow ever!

Need help!!!

It’s been a week since the twins sprouted and they are not doing so well. Can someone help identify the issue so maybe I can save them… or at least not make the same mistake in future grows?

Soil temp = 70° (nightly low temp.) - 82° (peak daytime temp.) at the roots.
Relative Humidity = 40%.
Water = 15ml every other day (pH 5.8).
Nutrients = Only using LIFE cloning solution by Rx Green Solutions 2x week. (NPK 0.5-1-0.5)
Growing media = Rapid Rooter plugs (i.e. Peatmoss plugs).
Fan = Small personal desk fan by O2 Cool. 15min. on 15min. off during daytime only (off during sleep cycle).
Lighting = Using 4 Philips 23w 6500k Daylight Delux twist style CFL bulbs 5" above plants.

Here are some pics taken this morning:

Thanks in advance for your help!!

can you put a clear plastic cup or something over them to raise humidity? You can double your RH at this point. Just taking a stab…

@Matthew420 - So RH should be around 80? I will cover with a clear plastic cup and see what happens.

For seedlings yes, 75%-80% up in that range. Poke some holes for air though.

I’d probably hold off giving any real nutirents for a bit as well. @Majiktoker might want to look at that seedling and let @GrowManFitz know what ya think

Are you saying I should poke some holes in the plastic cup that I will use as a humidity dome? The pot that it’s in has holes for drainage in the bottom. Also have a layer of growstone in bottom of pot with plug sitting on top the growstone, then the obvious growstone around the plug. Trying to give as much air flow as possible.

Sorry, yes. Put some holes in whatever you cover it with so air can circulate a bit. A cut-off plastic soda bottle or plastic cups work well. You can mist the inside of the dome to increase humidity.

Yeah @GrowManFitz I used a Ziploc bags and left it open at bottom but when you transplanted I hope you were careful not to damage the roots. That could be another problem in my very amateur opinion.

Still need help here?
