Do these look ok? First time growing

These are 6 day old Northern Lights Autos. They were completely bright green yesterday morning. They looked like this starting last night. One has white spots and the other has darkening at the end of the leaves. No nutes yet, just ph balanced water. Coco coir and perlite mix for growing medium. RH has been around 60-63% and temps have been staying around 73.

I would appreciate any feedback!

They’re looking good! Keep misting the ground around them. They won’t need nutes for a little while longer.

The white spots water spots. You can dome it ,using a plastic bottles for example, and spritz the inside of the bottle. Worked great for me!

Welcome to the forum, you will love it here. Everyone is super helpful and willing to share their knowledge. Your babies look good, like @OlyBoy98503 and @Schmokey said it’s water on the leaves. As for darkening on the end of the leaves keep an eye on that as that’s where most nute problems will show first, I can’t see any issues there but it’s good to be aware. What soil are you growing in. There is a support ticket there somewhere, I will see if I can find it.
Got it, looks a bit daunting and a lot of stuff won’t apply to you but fill in what you do know. You could also start a grow journal as that would help us keep track of how things have been going. Good luck and enjoy your grow :sunglasses:

Thanks everyone for the help. I’m trying to grow the best plants I can. :slightly_smiling_face: I have been researching so much over the last few months. There is just so much info to take in! I will look into the grow journal. I’m so glad I found ILGM!

@Davyg I’m growing in 70/30 coco coir perlite mix. I did rinse it twice and buffer with cal mag before using it. I had read several places that it was a good idea.

I don’t know anything about coco I’m afraid as I’m a soil grower but I believe that’s the best thing to do with it. You’re about to learn so much about plant biology here that it will blow your socks off. I don’t know if you have ways to measure your feed if not you will need the kit fairly quickly. I can’t remember who grows with coco but @Myfriendis410 will do. He has been here a while and is a mentor so he will be able to fill in the blanks regarding that medium

Let me tag @Not2SureYet and see if he’s around. He’s a good coco grower.

@Davyg I only have a ph meter for now. To measure my feed are you talking about a TDS meter to measure PPM?

I think they are right above. I have a couple leaves like that as well on little ones. It never changed. Plant is doing well. I wouldn’t worry about it. Or I should say I haven’t worried about it

@Em Yes, something to monitor tds or ppm. I use a bluelab truncheon for PPMs but a lot of growers use Apera. There’s loads of good kit out there

@Not2SureYet when do you think I should start feeding them?

I start feeding mine at about day 10 unless they are growing strong. Then I go more. I mix a gallon and save what I don’t use in a milk jug. That way. I can re use it a few times. I only feed a little till the plants are growing good. Then I will start feeding more water wise. I use 1/4 strength for at least 3 weeks and go from there as to if they are ready for 1/2 strength

@Not2SureYet I started a grow journal and have got some responses. I posted about how I’m afraid my seedlings are stunted. I have been trying to figure out what caused it and how to fix it fast. One person thought maybe overwatering. I thought it was possible. But I’m growing in coco and perlite and I picked up the pot and it’s light. So now I’m thinking under watering. Do you think it would be ok to water around the edge of the pot with just ph balanced water?

When they are little. You can over water. Here is how Mine basically seem to go.
I start in solo cups or nursery bags. I have no luck starting in final pots. Maybe because I get to impatient. The bigger the starter pot. The slower it will seem like things are happening. The plant will spend more time growing under the soil.
Seed sprouts
4 or 5 days later I give about 20ml of water.
I do a no feed or water for 2 days. Then normally water with 20ml again.
It is hard to restrain your self some times. But you are actually a little better under watering for a day as over watering. Or so it seems for me.
The main thing is to be patient. I have had plants seem like I stunted them from putting them in a final pot early. They always do fine.

If you are in a final pot and worry about over watering. You can water farther out with more water. I am just dropped a seed a few nights ago. It should sprout in a day or so. once it does. I will do a quick video showing how I will be watering. Hopefully it may help you feel a little less stressed. I will tag you into my grow. So I can find you easier. My journal is a few weeks behind.

@Not2SureYet Thank you!! A video would be awesome. It’s so nerve wracking wonder if they are getting too much/little water. I have just been misting around my plants. So the rest of the growing medium feels so dry. And it doesn’t take long for the top to look dry. Hopefully they will be fine after all. Would it be ok if I tagged you in my grow journal?

Definitely tag me in. It sounds like you might be a little dry. You may want to give them at least 10ml of water.
