DIY soil, worth doing?

Just simply want to ask if making your own soil is cheaper/better and worth the time and if so, does anyone have a solid recipe they use?

There are several threads about DIY mixes. To be honest I have not seen a huge difference between those and a quality cannabis commercial soil. But I am sure others will disagree. Those who mix their own generally are just better growers. Probably a lot of satisfaction in making your own mix. Most of them need some “Time to Cook” which is just a rest period of maybe a few months for bacterial activity to do its job in the mix.
I grow in coco coir as I found its less picky than soils.

It would not hurt to take a few courses, or maybe your local Cooperative Extension Service offering a Master Gardener course.

Get used to mixing soils.

I think the main advantage to making your own soil is that you can control what goes in and build it with good bones that will last. Making good soil may not be cheaper in the short term, but you can use ingredients like bio char and pumice that will make it reusable. Over multiple grows it can be cheaper too.
