Making my own soil

Hello I’m looking for some ideas for mixing my own soil. I’m a beginner. I live on 10 acres out in country. There is about 8acres of woods , on the bottom of the forest floor are layers of leaves that have been there for over 20 years plus there’s also a huge pile of years of grass clippings, I’ve never seen such rich soil , all decomposed compost. Any suggestions or help onto how I go about making my own soil for my baby girls to be transplanted in a few week will highly appreciated. Thank You in advance for your knowledge and support !!!

when making your own soil it’s best to mix the ingredients together, get it wet and let everything blend together for a few months…a few weeks isn’t enough time for it all to adjust.

Composted leafs and grass clippings are excellent soil builder, mix it with some top soil , you can go 50-50 and you good to go…
Its been probably worked by earthworms , best thing you can get…
Simple is good

in my state, UCONN does soil analysis, along with many other businesses…an internet search of soil analysis does the trick

You looking for balance, that is the simple answer…
Heavy metals like lead cadmium and antimony , arsenic all this should not be high ( there will be some presence likely if the soil is natural and thats ok)

If I were doing what you are I would blend in some high quality materials like worm castings and for nitrogen something like mushroom compost, which is wonderful stuff but probably a little goes a long way. I would also add a bunch of earthworms to my main compost pile and start blending my future mix.
