Need info on mixing an organic soil

Hi community.

I want to mix up a batch of soil for my indoor grow and need some guidelines. I have a few teenagers “in veg obviously” I want to put them into bigger pots .I want it to be fully organic and I will feed AACT to the ladies along the journey. This is what I was planning on using in the mix but I don’t know what ratios to use, I will be using fabric pots,

I bought:
90dm3 of potting soil
30dm3 earthworm castings
30dm3 compost
15dm3 perlite
15dm3 vermiculite

The nutrients I have on hand are:
greenhouse feeding bio grow
Greenhouse feeding bio enhancer

With my teas I normally use:
earthworm castings
Compost
Molasses (treacle)
Sometimes bio enhancer
Fish emulsion

Please can the community help me out on this 1 and tag anyone who could help me out @Covertgrower @Mrcrabs @MeEasy @PurpNGold74 @Budbrother @fano_man

One thing I noticed is you want unsulferated black strap molasses I dunno if that’s that its unrefined I believe yours might be refined for direct consumption

Yeah this has passed my mind cos everyone goes on about it having to be unsulferated blackstrap, I’ve noticed this has a very grainy/sugary texture to it instead of being a syrup so I’ll go past the grow shop and purchase some:+1: I tag you in all my fricken post cos you always know who knows :joy::joy::+1:

Hi @Calvin1722 I actually cheat and use a premixed product that has everything in it to refresh the soil and bring it to life making it a water only with a couple top feedings. This keeps me from having to buy the 20 different ingredients and storing them all.

I have read many different blogs and articles and the best places I’ve found for mixing your own soil are “Clackamas Coot the soil guru” and "build a soil " I would link them but with the forum rules I can’t but they are pretty easy to find with a quick search. Both of these have good recipes for soil mix.

I defer to the growers that mix their own soil.

I didn’t see anything in your soil mix to buffer the PH into cannabis range. Better add that or you will have trouble.

I checked my ph of all my plants and the ph is 7.2 -7.5 I water with rainwater that comes in at 7. What can I do to drop this quickly cos I grow with microbes and I don’t want to kill them by adding ph down. Some plants are in flowering and I’m worried the soil ph being high is locking out phosphorus, please help you soil gurus !!!lol

@Calvin1722 there’s some good organic soil acidifiers on the market but a lemon will work just squeeze it into your water

And will this have no effect on my microorganisms?? I don’t want to kill everything I’ve built

It may kill off your soil biome but I would plan to re-inoculate it after applying. This is why I pointed out the lack of PH buffers in soil mix.

Have you tried aerating your water overnight? When I used to make teas, I’ve found PH can drop a point or two overnight.

Hey @Calvin1722 this is my first marijuana grow and I made my own soil mix. Ive been growing plants and vegetables for years though. In a 5gallon bucket I used 1/3 peatmoss which has a low ph and 1/3 vermiculite and 1/3 organic compost from my garden bin but you could substitute it with sheep manure. Then I added 2 cups of worm castings and threw a bit of bone meal in. Ive been making tea for fertilizer from coffee grinds, brewers yeast, banana peels, egg shells and maple wood ash. Used different combinations for the veg and flower stages.

This is pic was 28 days into flower

Hope this helps!
