A little mixture?

Hello, I’m a little low on potting soil and I cannot find the brand I use anywhere near me (Dr. earth)I have some left and I also have some organic seed starting mix. I was wondering if it’s OK to mix the two together in order to make enough for my 2 gallon pots to fill. Will it be ok to do that to stretch what I have?

I would think it would be fine, just keep in mind what nutes (if any ) in the soil and add nutes accordingly if needed

@Mr_Wormwood is correct. I mix soil brands pretty often and reuse a few times. No ill bearings.

As he said, keep in mine whats in the soil ur adding. If you have the bag, a picture of the ingredients speaks volume

I want to use the seed starting mix to stretch the potting soil

That doctor earths is the beeknees dude! Thats watcha want there lol.

The seed starter is more peat then soil. Thus u wanna treat it as more of a hyprophobic medium. Like coco… i wouldnt really mix piles of the two unless it was mostly Dr Earths. Then the peat acts as a perlite of sorts.

Much rather grow in soil or peat/coco. But mixing them is viable. Maybe 3:1 tops would be for me. But u could get away with 50:50. Dont be suprised if the pH gets creepy tho.

Also food for thought. Peat is non renewable. Someone told me about peat mining and it botherd my greenthumb’s stomach. I mean its gonna be used around the world either way. But i can say no for once

I appreciate your response! I was looking everywhere for Dr. earth, for some reason it’s hard to come by in my neck of the woods LOL! I was thinking maybe have soil on the bottom and do a top layer of the seed starter That way when it begins to root it will hit the soil,I’d much rather grow in the dr earth soil but I can’t find any👎🏼 I really don’t want to deal with PH issues! I’ve dealt with that in the beginning of my grows and it was a pain

Not sure where your neck of the woods is, but Amazon has it in the US:

Yeah I was looking online, I guess I’ve just been lucky enough to find it at local stores. The last two bags I actually found at target! Lol

NO MG! Lol. Its taboo round these parts.

Check the ingredients. Any time releasing nutrient loaded MG is a nogo for newer growers. Its impossible to get it under control
