I just transplanted from peat pods , i took the pod mesh off and buried about 2 inches of “leggy” stem. I watered them all with 20 ounces of rainwater (the potting mix was very dry) thats been 32 hours ago . The plants have almost doubled in size since the transplant , but the new leaves are…kinda yellow-ish. I really hope i havnt messed up . Any thoughts??
Leggy plants are due to inadequate lighting. What are you using to light them? You have a lot of plants. Do you plan on moving them outside?
They look reasonably well.
Water for seedlings should be measured in ml.
Happy growing!
Hey @Purdyboi65 the new growth and leaves look fine except for the yellowish tinge on new, so I don’t think it’s overwatering or transplant shock. Altho I don’t know why you took the mesh off the jiffy pods, the roots will grow right thru them. So maybe a bit of shock.
What potting soil mix did you use? Some of that could be hot for seedlings, they don’t need too much at this stage. And if they continue to stretch, check your lights…distance, intensity, etc.
I kept mine under a T5 light, about 2" away until they got another set or two or leaves. One I had about 5 sets before I could transplant it, not by choice, just didn’t make it home one day for a week!

Midwest guy …thank you for responding . The stems became stretched because i was using peat pods under a 31 watt -54par/ppf full spectrum “good earth 3n1 grow light” at 18 inches. But i was also bringing them outside full sun for 3 to 5 hours per day. The only reason i used that amount of water is because to transplant i let the pods dry a good bit . And the soil mixture i use , i mix myself , and it was very dry as well. I try not to use a lot of fertilizer only as needed. After transplanting , i switched the lighting to a 4ft led (182 watts) i dropped the light down until it was reading 2000 lumens at leaf top. And i use rain water that i catch in barrels. These plants will all be going outside as soon as they get a little taller , with the exception of 3 plants. (cherry ak) this plant is susceptible to mold desease so i have a 4x4 x7 grow tent for it , since im using led’s i will have a 4 inch ventilation system in it. …have i left anything out? Oh yeah looks like they arent having any troubles , since yesterday they have gotten larger (noticably)
Im not the greatest at copy/paste and all that , but im learning , hopfully by my next need for support i will know how to fill out a support ticket. Hope i waz able to fill you in better on my set up , but it seems im buying more every day. I hope to be able to send in great pictures of amazing plants…its going to be a while before they get there . Thank you so much for your help. Everyone!
One thing I’d do right now is dome them with a clear Solo cup. Mist the inside of the cup with your water twice a day which is plenty. Plants look fine and remember that roots are growing when the tops aren’t.
When the leaves touch the Solo cup, remove and water sparingly in a circle around the plant. This may help roots develop out into your soil.
I wasnt able to do the dome lid for them , because i was about to leave for 6 days on vacation . So i set my timers to 16 on 8 off… poured 10 oz of water on them and honestly …i was expecting to have to sweep out the grow tent and start over when i got back but…
Im completely blown away. These plants are only 3 weeks old. Are they supposed to be like this? And the smell…its so strong!
