It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these but i figure its time to log all grows to share with some friends.
For the past few years, organic living soil has taken over my grows and my life. Every plant in this journal will be grown with organic living soil practise.
All worm castings are home made with peatmoss bedding, spent mushroom logs (mostly oyster and lions mane) from a local craft mushroom farmer, oyster shell flour, crab meal, and various fruits and veggies. I will also add maple syrup and corn syrups, the little wigglers love their sugar.
Recent finished grows:
Mango 1:1 by 34 street seeds. Grown in 30 gallon pot of homemade soil consisting of: peat moss, homemade worm castings, light sea compost, pumice, vermiculite, and gaia green ammendments.
She was top dressed once a month with gaia green ammendments and worm castings. She also received a “witch’s brew” (will share ingredients if asked) worm casting tea bi weekly.
This girl was a pheno hunt of 15 seeds. Grown in 15 gallons of roughly the same soil recipe as the mango 1:1. Top dressed with worm castings and gaia green ammendments monthly and the witch’s brew casting tea biweekly.
Bubba kush by 34 street seeds.
Week 5 of flower
Grown in 30 gallons of the same recipe as the previous 2. The veg top dresses had crab meal added on top of the gaia green ammendments and castings. The flower top dresses have consisted of extra fishbone meal aswell as the worm castings and gaia green ammendments. Also biweekly teas. She is a bushy one, i wish i cut back more side branches to add more space but it’s a little too late!
Purple kush:
2 weeks old
She will be put into the same soil as the mango 1:1. I have reammended the soil and kept it as a no till. Also added some cover crop of a 5 seed blend (will post the list if requested). She was started in a cup of promix hp. Prepped with saponins from soap nuts and filtered water. after a week from popping up i gave the top a little crab meal, worm castings and gave it some witches brew tea. I will most likely transfer into the soil next week.
Dave is here! Thanks for the tag @Graysin . There are more organic growers here. @Storm@Caligurl@Beck off the top of my head. They will tag in more. Looking forward to watching your grow!
I have 4 plants in 20G outside lol plus a few more.
Hello @Graysin
Great to meet you! The yeilds have been varying quite a bit from each cultivar. The mango 1:1 was about 6 ounces of rock hard buds, zero popcorn. I will be growing another after the bubba.
The pink kush x gg4 is looking at about 4-5 ounces so far but is still drying.
I would say it’s more of a space thing. I have grown some 30 gallon pots outdoors and yeilded about 2 pounds (left plant)
Beautiful plants! Would love to try a pot that size at some point, i bet the roots get massive. Love orgainc gardening as well, have recently been trying to convert my backyard to gain more bio mass for composting l, have a worm farm going but want to upscale that as well. Anyway looking forward to your grow, good luck growmie.
Hey @Mikeygbaby1234 nice to meet you!
The pink kush x gg4 was the last thing i’ll grow in under 30 gal. I have found that plant health and quality are on another level at 30gal+. I highly recommend you give it a try!
well just looking at your gals is giving me some motivation. Im gonna have to prep a spot to try i have some long flowering sativa strains that may love all the extra room.
I literally just got them today lol but i got some chocolopes, I believe the site said 10 to 11 week flower expectancy im just waiting for my current girls to get done. My current setup is 1; 4Lx8wx8h grow tent with 3 2000 wat leds along with 1; 4x4x8 i call my trash tent just for the pure fact it isnt fully setup yet lol was thinking og designating the 4x4 for 1 plant ina 20 or 30 gallon pot. I would finish the setup before the next grow bit do you think the 8 ft in height will be enough?
Current grow half norther light half banana kush. I have one outside as well but its been 100+ for the last month now and shes still going which idk how lol.
@Mikeygbaby1234 very lovely ladies! Thanks for the share! 8 foot high is no problem for a 30 gallon grow as long as you know the stretch and train properly. That mango 1:1 was atleast a 2.5x stretch sativa dominant and she fit in the 2x2x5. Have you considered a grass roots living soil bed for you 4x4? You could no-till several grows in it and could choose to do 1 or multiple plants every grow. Jeremy Silva uses them in his buildasoil youtube grows.
It never occured to me do a notill big container in doors ill deff give it some thought .im trying to be more proactive and make my amenments at home and at the current moment i dont think i have the resources to fill and maintain a bin that size along with my current setup. Been trying to apply what i know about cover crops to make the pot more diverse with the exudates, food and biology they provide but they seem to always die during top feedings. Maybe once i get more established with that ill try out the notill way.
I understand, it’s alot of soil to make and fill all at once. Whatever you decide to do with the chocolope i hope you journal it! I would definitely follow
I do have a journal but rarely does the cut and paste thing work on this old phone. You can search for bunny jane and I think it is Bunny Jane’s 2022ish Grows or something like that.
Great to meet you Caligurl! I checked out your journal and it looks like you are having a great season! I will be following along from now on for sure. For next year’s autos i highly recommend mephisto genetics. Best in the biz in my opinion! I’ll probably grow some inside over the winter and add to this journal.
