I think if you water them from the drain pan , they will get really strong faster stalks as to chasing the water and those roots will go on a hunt trying to find the moisture , is what I’ve read many years ago , are don’t allow your water circle go past the length of the fan leaves as it grows . Right now 5 mls of water would be plenty until they get strong . A Lil perlite has traces of silica in it about 1.5% ratio I believe but any will help them .
Depends who you ask, I say they start veg as soon as they sprout as all growth before flowering is veg growth. Some like to break it down to seedling stage but that’s just a stage of veg growth.
That was what I thought @Hellraiser had said before but I didn’t want to misquote, and one set of true leaves seem like as good a place as any to call it veg
In other words I was talking out my rear
I am just misting currently, and not even that really, it’s still damp in there and I don’t want to overwater. As soon as I start watering I will take you up on your advice. I meant to get some perlite when I got the soil, but they didn’t have any so I ended up with vermiculite and upon reading the bag I am going to return it. and if they still don’t have any I will just go with the soil plain, happy frog
I’m not saying , I’m only sharing Lil snippets in case , you can used river rock the Lil pebbles are the Clayton rocks , but you got this rock star . As simple as you can keep it will work best .
Yoshi, you come up with amazing ideas, some of which I would definitely be doing except I am severely limited. I live in an apartment building, no personal yard, so that counts out lots of stuff. Also, I’m limited in movement and stuff, I do what I can. Isn’t river rock kinda big?
Well at Dollar General they sell little river rocks and also glass beads amount the size of a nickel
Bag for I think a buck. You’d need a few bags as it’s about the size of an old school coin purse
They’re for decor like to put in bottom ok flower vase and what not
and you’re talking to replace the perlite? rocks or glass? that sounds so dissimilar that I can’t understand the premise there
Wait, is that what he meant?
I thought the rocks were just for the top of the soil th help disperse water more evenly and avoid getting water “channels”
I don’t see them replacing perlite for better drainage but that’s why I’m a noob
I just was letting you know you can get small river rocks (or something like that) at the dollar store, or art supplies place like Michaels or hobby lobby
Not a slam on Yoshi, (probably a compliment really) but more than half the time I don’t understand what he is laying down
There might be a breakdown between his typing fingers and my reading eyes or what he espouses goes right over my head
Now that I thought about it I can see how that could help with drainage but if you have to buy them, you’d be better off returning the vermiculite (which does the opposite of what you want) and get perlite as an exchange
No the small pebble size , some has good trace minerals for plants and helps to keep your dirt from packing. The one for fish aquariums?
I think @yoshi is talking about the aquarium version of Hydroton. The little tiny expanded clay pebbles instead of the big expensive ones.
He’s right tho, my hydroponic plants live in hydroton and I’ve had to yeet 2 Males from their clay pebble beds. I’ve been stunned how much of their roots penetrate into the surface pores of the pebbles. They obviously are gripping into them and sucking nutrients out. Silica makes good sense to me, clay is made up of silica, as well as calcium, and a lot of times potassium, iron, magnesium, and some other good stuff that weed plants really like. Plus the aquarium pebbles are pretty good size & durable, so I can see how they’d help with soil porosity and prevent your soil from getting over saturated.
Anyway that was a long way of saying check a pet store or dollar store for aquarium “expanded clay pebbles”. When you find some (If you can) be sure to give them a rinse until the water runs clear. They can be real dusty and gross fresh out of the bag.
I would stick by your runt. Some of the best plants I have seen have been the slowest starters. I just look at them as developing a stronger root system. Veg time for me is past the first set of leaves and finishes as the flowers start to set
@Graysin thanks a bunch , I be trying to learn us something , I don’t think my grammar is the best of explaining sometimes and I get miss interpreted but I just be trying to give creative thinking ideas to other means of what might help without folks thinking it has to be this brand or this particular thing for it to work . I be shocked how many people don’t tie in plants and fish and the benefits they serve to each others echo system of life . If anyone growing plants has a fish aquarium , that is the best water to feed plants with over all for some of the best and greatest harvest I’ve ever had in my 26 plus years at doing this illegally and legally . The swamp harvest was always the biggest
@scylents Bro you`re OFF topic… Tis not really an ethical debate on “Global Warming” Or “Whats bad for the planet” type BS talk…Its about growin weed …Hello!
Runyz was a little slower at growth over the rest but she has some stupid stinky buds on her. Scotts of smells of skunk super bad too. Watch the leaf colors on the runyz remember tho. If she starts looking darker green than the rest I’ll wanna back off the n on her some mine has always been a darker green from the start so hard to keep her on the right path.
Yep, I had a Chemdawg that I didn’t think was going to even germinate turn into a Beast.
Hell I thought that my revenge f4 CBD was a male and now she has some of the most beautiful buds stacking up on her. I think I’m gonna have some issues with snapping stalks on this one as they r thinner than normal and the buds look way bigger than normal for this amount of time in.
That makes me feel better and terrible about my 2 runts (oh god, I don’t even remember what strains they are!) - I gave up on them but keep feeding them anyway in the same planter. Now I’m worried they’ll actually take off like rockets and I’ll be f*^€ed
PS you & Mark both I’m out of likes but
haha
It’s a funny thing, we always write off the little guy and they prove us wrong time after time
