Curing - jars - grove bags

I know the exact smell that you’re smelling. You can look this up I’ve got about 30 seeds unfortunately their photos and I don’t grow photos of a very rare strand called “TIRE FIRE” smells like burning tires. My son smoked it and actually gave me the seeds he’s in his late 30s and said it was the absolute best weed he ever smoked in his entire life. One hit and he wasn’t responsible for anything he did as it just put him out.

Let me make sure I understand this, when you remove the Bud from the bag and put it in a separate container with a 62% humidity pack did this just speed the process up for you? The rest of the remaining weed in your groove bag is that eventually going to come out as good as the bud you pulled and put in a 62% humidity pack?

I’m not sure… this is my first harvest i am contending with. I just added this for you so that you could experiment with your stuff to see whats what… you could be correct on this. It’s been a month since i started curing. There is alot of good odors that come out of the middle of the buds. Just not a whole lot…
I will grow those Fire photoperiods if you don’t want too?

I used mason jars for years, but then switched to grove bags which work great. Recently I’ve been using “C vaults” and i think these are my favorite way to cure to date. Anytime you’re talking about the best way to cure you’ve undoubtedly had some success - congrats!

Is this a type of groove bag?

Edit, I look them up. That’s a very interesting curing device.

Trying this. Wrong size packets purchased last year. Larger for 1-zip recommended.

Personally, I avoid large storage containers, being too afraid of contamination.
Small OZ harvesting learning how to cure.
PNW last year, no rain, easy dry/cure.
PNW this year, daily rain RH high, drying has been a challenge.
Lost some prize bud, mold.

Jars and bag management easier, after gifting.

I was incredibly worried about drying/cure. Took about 2 days to figure out how to dial in the room and consistently reached 60° and 60% throughout the entire dry. I was relieved and lucky. I did have many equipment challenges and misunderstandings. Luckily always figured out swiftly

Been approximately 12 days now. 80% are in Grove bags maintaining 58 to 63% and rather than sealing the bags I simply masking taped shut.

The other 20% are in mason jars now burping once a day or 20 minutes at a time. Fortunately, the jars are maintaining 58 to 62% RH

So far so good I would say. I really appreciate all the input. I do believe I’m on the right track. I like the idea of a 6-month cure. I’m incredibly patient and I think that will pay off for me in the long run.

Picked up some grove bags not long ago, but just looked into the “C-Vault”. Those things look fantastic!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Does the masking tape seem to hold pretty well???

I think so it creates a nice seal nothing’s getting through it for sure to adhesive stuck together makes a seal to me. I like the concept better than sealing the bag with heat as I would have to cut it and reseal it if I had to get in it.

We need obvious reasons to get in the bag every now and then the tape is a great solution to sealing

Love it!!! That’s great to hear since I was not super into the idea of heat sealing. I too would like a little easier access to the contents

Waiting is the hardest part.
You waited for grow, harvest, and now cure.
good luck waiting, I am trying the same.

I’ve read that larger than the standard quart mason jars are not recommended, because even when packed loosely, the material is too thick for proper curing/breathing. No experience with it, just something I read on a (non-forum related) cannabis site somewhere.

I am aware of this (learned the painful way, not thru reading, sadly) and use large containers (qt, half, or gal.) yet never fill more than half way.
Need large jars for half my RF sensors (BT) are really large. I just don’t store all my weed in one large gallon container. Looked at C-cure (forum mentioned, previously unknown to me).
Ouch on the $80.00 price. Six half gallon glass jars are $15.00 at Walley’s’ world or a $10.00 gallon glass jar with “lock” ring lid (personally preferred for burping, in stages).
This is the important part, while burping, I roll the jars so the buds get moved, gently, like an earthquake. Never pack the jars, else mold IME.

Gave some to the garden store guy, a tester for my grow. I won’t know for a week what he thinks of the weed. Anybody have, se, or recommend the NO2 machine for vaping?

I store everything in 5 gallon buckets w lids. Always stays nice. Had some close to 6 months and was great. I think the environment is most of it. Maybe these other storage things work who knows. For me the buckets work. Its easier to burp a 5 gallon bucket that 20 mason jars and can be done with a fish tank aerator pump and check valve on a timer, i use these when i have a lot to cure. Ive never had freshness issues. I move to mason jars when i only have enough left to fill a couple jars. Ive got some a year old that we smoked some and pressed some and both was great. I feel like ya gotta do what makes ya feel good. For me 5 bucks for a bucket feels better than hundreds on these other storage systems.

I have friends that grow quite a bit and still sweat weed in a trash bags and cure in food grade buckets . Getting a good cure just requires you to control moisture levels while undesirables breakdown. The grove bags provide an easy to follow process for this, but still require you not be too wet or too dry. If you can do this in jars or anything else you will be equally successful.

Based on the success of the grove bags I think they make sense for those who grow enough to be concerned about long term storage.

Grove bags are the best for curing cancer in my opinion

I personally don’t see a difference between c-valts and Mason jars. Other than c-valts are stainless steel and mason jars are glass. Both make an air tight seal. Both can have bodiva added.
