What should the Rh be in your jar right after you first put in? My buds read 67% after being in jar about a half hour. Two days later was down to 58% that’s only having open for 10 min for 2 days. I’m getting ready for my fist harvest and have been cutting about once a week for last 2 weeks just to try to figure out my dry properly. Very low Rh where I live. Thanks any pointers are greatly appreciated
I have no advice on the jars. But I will say that using the grove bags was easy peasy. No burping, perfect cure and storage.
How do you use Grove bags? I just purchased some.
I suggest checking out there web for the most accurate info, but basically what you’re doing with the jars you’ll do with the bags except you don’t burp them. Just leave em.
Cool I might check those out for next harvest but for this harvest I’m using jars so if anyone has an opinion for how I’m doing this time would be great thanks
I believe 62 percent is the target
Chop, wash if that is a thing you do, hang to dry. Box them or tent them or whatever your method is for the 10-14 day dry period. Once you get to the 10-12% moisture if you have a meter then you do your final trim and pop em in the grove bags with a mini hygrometer and make sure that after a few hours the meter is still at 58-62%. If it starts to climb just open the bags for a few hours and close it up again. The moisture meter takes all of the guess work out of the equation.
You can use humidity packs in your jars to help you target 62% relative humidity. It is also easier to drop humidity to 62% than it is to raise it
Ok thanks so for me original question. Am I looking to put in the jar initial at around 70% Rh that way as I burp can lower to 62%? What should the internal Rh when I first put jars in? I know I shooting for 62% but that’s after a couple weeks of curing right?
I like it to be 65 to maybe 70% and let it drop as slow as possible. If you are starting at a higher humidity reading you will want to pay close attention to it. You dont want to get mold. If it is higher you may have to burp more at first. I try to get mine down to 62% in about 4 weeks staying stable at 62 for about the next 2-3 weeks or so. By then it should be smoking good.
Ok thanks I ask because I live in a very low rh area 15%>. So I already planned on cutting and hang for 24 hours then trim fan leaves and put in box and close then once a day take the branches out inspect move around and put back in closed box. To slow down and try to get a week before have to put in jars that’s why I was asking. So 70% sounds good that way for the first couple weeks can pull and check without over drying. First timer does that sound like a solid plan?
Ya, i didnt realize how dry it is where you live. I would trim after i dry and before cure to slow drying as much as possible. I think it would be safe for you to start curing at 70% and if that tries to drop too fast add a 62% humidity pack to your containers.
Cool cool thanks
Bought some grove bags for my harvest. We’ll see about that magic lol. Heard a lot of YouTubers talking about them
I was just grinding up about 2oz of the Durbin poison I’ve had in the Grove bags for about 5 weeks now to dabpress and it’s absolutely amazing. never had terps so strong. It was toeing the line of too much. You’re going to be glad you did.
