Cropping auto plants

Hi just wondering if I should top or FIM my autos just once?
Thanks

Most people do not recommend fim for auto flowering plants. There are very few who top auto flowering plants. The theory is if an auto is topped it may slow or stunt the plant. There are instances on the forum where it has done neither. There is a long thread on autoflower dot net that addresses this topic. The grower there tops his between 14-21 days. I have a few autos growing right now and did neither, I did not want to take any chances.

Thanks James did you try it and have you cloned autos? Is there any difference or same old tried and true clone method, I suspect it would make harvest even quicker with auto clones.
Thanks

I topped my hindo kush auto and it stunted it but it’s come up with two tops I figure I would try it out because it’s a migget anyway

The problem with cloning auto is that it doesn’t get any time to grow. By the time it roots its usually into flowering or starts flowering shortly after. So outside of doing it just to do it, very little to gain.

Thanks thats a shame thought it would be quicker harvest but obviously little yeild.

How big are your colas as big as one or smaller?

Lol mines small still it’s says start flowing 7 weeks I think I’m 4 weeks and it’s just starting to grow back from being topped but there will be 2 colas in the end

I always top my autos. Here’s a couple pictures of what I ended up with.

you just have to do it at the right time. If it has about 5-6 nodes around day 15, go for it

If you are a new grower it would be better to gain some experience before attempting to top or supercrop. LST (Low Stress Training) is a better choice until you gain the chops to get in and manipulate your plants without retarding their growth. @HornHead does a nice job and @Not2SureYet does too so it certainly can be done.

@Myfriendis410 is right for me. I have topped every auto I have planted. Other than one I have that just didn’t want to start growing. I am not going to tell you how to do it. Rather than how I do mine. I wait till the top is fully formed and you can see the 2 side shoots with all 3 shoots. I then top mine. I have an Auto berry I topped 4 times this grow. I would not recommend tying it till you are familiar with autos and are willing to deal with negative results should it happen. I Have heard what not to do with autos and always like to see for my self. I am pretty happy with how all mine have turned out. If you are not sure when to top, should you do it. You can always post a picture of what you see and some one could give you a recommendation as to what they think
Nice plant there @Kroncaddycustoms

The auto berry I topped 4 times. Tomorrow it will be starting week 6 of flower. It is a 10 week plant so it says

And, you don’t see a lot of autos in a SCROG either. That’s some wicked skills.

It’s seem don’t trim autos, thanks everyone, I’m new to autos and feminised but very much looking forward to crop if I can just get these seedlings to survive instead of dying 14 seeds won’t germinate tried 3 times with these seeds but no luck tried the advice but they seem dorment now the ones that did germinate are falling over after initially looking good the wamo the leave wilt and the stem breaks just after true leave appear never had this problem before in over 30 years but usually direct seed or cutting thought id be careful with the bought strains but maybe I should neglect them as I used to and just water as required.
