Interesting thread. I just grew my first batch outside…cut it and hung it to dry yesterday. I had stopped smoking 50 years ago (Jebus, am I THAT old?!) because it put me to sleep.just started making cannabutter cookies a year ago to help with pain and insomnia so I WANT something like couch lock. Now I want to buy seed for Granddaddy Purple since that’s what I’ve been turning into cannabutter. But I grew White Widow trees this season. I just hope the weather-driven early harvest doesn’t make it the opposite of what I need.

It’s my understanding the more Amber you see in trichome production the more couch lock you’ll get. The more clear that it is the more rushy Head Rush buzz you’ll get. When you get to all cloudy and a few Amber’s that’s supposed to be the perfect buzz without a bunch of couch lock. So Amber’s what you’re looking for if you’re looking for couch lock from what I’m understanding

Your understanding is correct. As THC degrades it turns amber and converts to CBN (cannabinol). CBN is the “sleepy” cannabinoid, the more amber, the more CBN, and the more sleepy.
THC can convert to CBN by aging, exposure to light, or heat. In fact, I regularly make sleep meds by decarbing trim from THC to CBN, and infusing it into coconut oil and make capsules.

If you go too far the terps can ve negatively affected. It just creates a sleepy, very body centered high. Not energetic stone whatsoever.

Wow, the response was exactly what I was looking for. Nice descriptive details of what you like and what you don’t on couch lock.
I do believe I will harvest one with semi Amber trichomes (25%) as it seems like there’s a 50/50 consensus that there’s some benefit behind it. (Good or bad). I’ve got the perfect plant for it. Thanks guys!

To me couch lock is a no pain postion body numb brain goes into free floating mode. We watch stupid movies. I grow foe this effect due to arthritis everywhere and a failed fusion. Another way is the orange hairs will curl up like the wizard of oz witches feet. Then you have couch lock weed.
