My current flowering tent which is a 5x9 is in a room that’s 8x12. It’s in my basement so no way to cool when temps get hot (can’t do a mini spilt). Tent closed temps will climb up to mid 80s if I let it. I open up the tent every morning… that keeps me around 78-80. What are the pros/cons to just getting rid of the tent? Thanks in advance.

I don’t have any answers but if you don’t mind I’ll tag along. I am growing in a closet in an empty bedroom and thought I could expand.
I run mid 80’s throughout the whole grow. What’s your concern with mid 80’s?

Everything that I’ve read tells me to stay under 82 … especially during late flowering… to avoid burning off oils and resins?

May be the case with HID’s due to infrared causing leaf temps to be around 7* higher than the ambient temp. Not the case with LED’s.

I read an article about that a bit ago. Just wasn’t confident enough. So what’s your ideal temp? What size tent are you using?

My room is tapered so one side is 4’ wide and the opposite is 3’ wide and it’s about 5’ long. My room stays around 86 with lights on.

Just packed my tents up, I like the one big room better. But I grow mainly autos so no light worry.

I use a tent and the room lol.
The tent is for flower and it runs in the mid to low 80s.
I vent the tent to the room with a fan and when both lights are on I open the tent

@BobbyDigital digital smacked down some solid knowledge there which brings us to VPD.
Vapor pressure density or VPD is basically how well your plants are breathing, it’s an efficiency chart.

That being said this is a generalization, true VPD calculators are easily found online but you need a ambient leaf temperature value to plug into the calculator in order for the chart to be accurate.

I agree totally with and about vpd. Yesterday I let the tent stay closed. It would have breached 90 if I would have let it. That’s just too hot… no co2 being injected either. I’ve come to the conclusion that you don’t need a tent if you keep it open. Light leaks aren’t a problem for me.

May depend on your strain but I am straight out in the furnace room and it’s a very happy environment for my girls. 3 autos and 4 photos and all doing nicely. I obviously defer the lighting to the photos but the autos haven’t minded a bit. Averages between 25-26 C. I augmented humidity in the veg stages with a small humidifier which got me between 50-60%. No humidifier now in flower. Started with lights hanging from a clothes rack but after I switch the photos I had to figure out how to hang them from the ceiling pretty quickly😂. Also, no windows so easy to keep light out. I may cover a wall with a reflective blanket next grow but mostly cuz I love to experiment. Smell hasn’t really been an issue either. Somehow managed to vent out. I got lucky. BTW I’m a newbie and this was my first grow. All beginners luck!

I almost bought a tent and realized i got plenty room 26x24 ft Plants get way more fresh air then a tent and simply hassle free then dealing with Tent issues.
