Hey guys, quick question! My temps are nearing that 84-85*F mark and I know thats pushing it pretty far. I’m growing a pretty heated oritented strain (zkittles auto) but any advice for lowering inside temps? Obviously most of this heat is coming from the grow light cause the reg temp inside is about 73. Any help that wont require me to buy a massive plug in AC unit would be great lol. Post link if youd like for things i should check out! Thanks as always growmies
Got a basement? It makes a great environment, it’s free geothermal. If not, you might need to run with the door open on the tent.
Reduce the heat load in there, if you can locate your driver outside the the tent that can help.
no basement unfortunately. And it would be ok to leave my tent door open during the day?
It totally sucks having to do that, you want to be there at lights out every day to close it up. Cant miss even 1 day.
Another idea would be to add an intake fan and pull the air in from outside. If you can’t go through a wall, one of those window adapters for a portable AC unit could be a discreet inlet
I’d start by just leaving the flap open up top only and see if that brings it down enough. You don’t want to lose that reflected light if you can avoid it.
The problem is the heated and spent air is going right back into the lung room so will eventually cycle back through the tent.
Are you using any kind of exhaust you can vet out a window?
I have a suggestion that worked for me. Change your light schedule. 6/2,6/2,6/2. Still get 18 hours of light with a chance for the tent to cool more often.
My tent hasn’t been over 81 since and I have 480 w in a 3x3.
Oh, and my girls love it.
How many fans do u have in ur tent i run four fans plus two inline exshust systems one taking hot air out and one taking cold air in ,you can open ur tent door and put a fan in front of ur door
Well 84 and 85 is really not too bad in veg time as long as the temps don’t plummet t real bad at lights out. My room hangs between 78 and 85 daily and 65 to 68 at night tents and doors r fine to be opened with plants as long as it’s not lights out with a photo plant. Photo needs true darkness without interruptions for best results and no hermies. What type of exhaust r u running and where does it exhaust to?? If u can exhaust to a diff room or outside that will help a ton on the heat problem. If ur exhausting in the same room ur getting the fresh air from u r heating up that room quite a bit exhausting the hott air into the lung room so u r sucking that heat back into the tent with the fresh air. Take a pic of the tent in it’s spot and how u have all hooked up maybe we can sypher an idea to make it better
You haven’t given any real data or what you have to work with. What size tent, exhaust fan, circ fans, humidity, what kind of controls for temp and humidity? What are you measuring temp and RH with? What lights and what are you running them at? What stage are the plants in. We all know what adds heat to a enclosure. But we don’t have a clue as to what you have to work with. The whole thread thus far reads like a near useless Facebook post.
Info is lacking but…ouch
I moved the driver outside the tent. It removes one heat source. I also will open the tent. I use an intake fan too.
OP asked for “advice for lowering inside temps”. Did you have any, or…. ?
Lowering the temperature in the space the tent is in. There are some affordable portable ac units and window units if you would like to cool just the room the tent is in.
If you’re in the NE like me, we have a warm bit of weather here. I’m upstairs too, and going to make the move to the basement tomorrow. I can see it coming. Central a/c isnt upstairs, and i have a good spot planned out for my lil 2x4 in the basement. Should be nice and cool all summer thru my harvest in late june… gotta get moving…
Again, what is there to work with? Or is it a game of pin the tail on the donkey? Otherwise it’s guess and poke.
Was able to drop it within a nice range just by opening the top half of the tent flap and scooting it over a bit more under the ac vent in the house (didn’t think I had the space to do that but made space for it quite easily). Thanks for all the tips guys, well most of you. Blast you need to relax, this was a post asking for help and recommendations. Maybe you need to crack open some of your home grown brother.
I’m relaxed and don’t half ass my grows. So what is the next step? Is tent flap open going to be the way to go when your deep into flower or are you in flower now? You going to open and close the top of the door daily? Do you have a exhaust fan that you can setup for temp control that can bring in cool air and fresh CO2? How is this going to interface with humidity? One thing always leads to another and problems in grows happen like airplane and car accidents. Good Luck!
