Closet Grow Room

Hello all! First time grower here looking for advise. Loving the community and support here btw! So I am building a 24x48 grow closet and wanted to get some advise on height. I explored a tent, but for several reasons I decided to build a small grow room instead. So as far as height goes what would be an ideal height for a 24x48? I’ve got 8’ to spare. My thought process is to do an open design and utilize the full 8’. At the upper part of the closet I was thinking of putting in shelving for easy access to supplies, tools, etc. However, I’m just wondering of any air circulation benefits or hinderances by do this.

My equipment is as follows:

At the bottom I will be installing a ventilation port with a HEPA filter:

The walls will be covered in this reflective insulation:

The floor will be tile for easy clean up.

At any rate, just wanted to get some advise on height, thoughts on the bottom vent port and anything else of concern, benefit, etc.

Thanks in advanced!

Here look at this stealth box Grow tent since it’s very similiar but if you can I’d switch that light out for a hlg 260 xl since it’s such a wide space

Yeah come on over and check out my Stealth box I did something very similar, but as far as height space goes I would make sure you use as much height as possible. Having a carbon filter and fan in there too doesn’t leave us much room. And my space is 25”x45”x70”. I’m running autos currently so I will let them grow and train/scrog them down some but if they get out of control or if I let my second run of photos veg to long I’ll have to switch my filter/fan on outside and that really defeats my stealthiness. Any who any questions about the set up that I can help with feel free to ask! Good luck!
70” but I’m losing almost a good foot due to filter/fan.

Yeah , I also vote if possible go with the hlg 260 V2 R-Spec XL light would be a good choice for your 2x4 space.

Thanks for the replies! Love the stealth!!! Thanks for posting! So with the light, just curious why those suggest considering another one? Better yield? Truth be known I already purchased it and got a great deal on it. From what I understand 100w equals = 1oz? At 230w, this is more than enough for my person needs and choice of only doing 1 plant… 2 at most plants.

As far as height, I was leaning towards the 8’ for its advantages. Couldn’t really think of any disadvantages. Glad you agree!

As far as the HEPA filter on the intake port/vent it will be in a garage and I was thinking this will help with potential pests, insects and air quality coming in. Love that you used one on your stealth build! Looks like it works well!

Ahh yes, I did not take bud firmness, size and weight into account. Thanks a million! So with that being said, this may be a dumb question, but any affordable supplemental light that I could add? I’m on a budget. However, I am wondering if I should return it and bite the bullet and just buy a HLG 260 V2 R-Spec XL light? So many things to think about! Really glad I asked now rather than stumble upon this after the fact. Can’t express my gratitude enough for the advise!!!

@VAVA If the HLG light will fit your budget you will not need to buy another light. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Lots of indoor Growers started out with the blue purple lights and spend more money to upgrade Including myself. Code (dude) will get you 10% off.

Sage advise, thanks SO much!

Yes indeed it does help with filtering the air intake and light leakes when you layer it.

I gotta up my game. I’m still looking for that 16oz from my 3x3. :v:

I started out with a 3 x 3 space, an quickly moved to a 4x4 space which works out much better for me. That gives me a good space for 4 plants. And two lights.

Nice! Yeah, I’m thinking a 2x4 room should work out well for me only growing 1 plant… 2 at most. I just don’t have the room for anything bigger.

@VAVA 2×4 perfect space for two large plant or three medium size.

Also debating doing the intake vent/port drawing from my house (attached to the garage) vs the stale, humid garage air. Just seems more practical sucking up climate control air vs hot air in the summer and cold air in winter from my garage. The ambient temps in the garage will no doubt effect the closet grow room’s temp. Drawing air from the garage would just complicate things even more I’m thinking. Thoughts?

I agree , the best way to control temperature and humidity inside tent or grow space is control the environment you’re pulling The Fresh air from.

Just wanted to give an update. So construction is going slow, but steady.

Once everything is drywalled, I’ll add diamond mylar on the walls.

As I’m still in construction, I just wanted to give an update and see if anyone suggests any additional improvements or suggestions based on your experience growing?
