Cloning Trial #3 Gold Leaf ☠

Yet again… I have 2 Gold Leaf Feminized cuttings in Solo cups with FFHF. The were cut at a 45° angle and dipped in Clonex.

I had 2 plants that weren’t topped, so I topped them.

So far I murdered 3. This time I put them in soil that is considerably dryer. I think the others got rooted out by too wet a soil.

I have herd to recut them at a 45 under water. Also scrape alittle of the stem just above the 45. This will help expose more rooting area.

If you want effortless cloning and 100% rooting success everytime, check out the Clone King aero-cloners. I have the Clone King 25 and it has rooted every cutting I ever put in it, from day 1. Makes it so easy compared to other methods. Best $69 I’ve ever spent.

I also use an aero cloner with just plain water and it works great.

Don’t know how handy you are but you can buy a cheap pump off Amazon, tote w/ lid, and a few pvc fittings. You probably wouldn’t really save much but would likey have a nicer one than you would buy

Add one length of 1/2 Pipe insulation for $.99. I garbage picked a 10 Gallon Fishtank and cut and drilled a plexiglass top…working to 10+years now

You’re cuttings should have at least one node below the point that is going to be put in soil. Scrape the node and an extremely thin layer of the “skin” off with a sterile razor. And are you using any rooting hormones?

Ive heard the sprayers get clogged up on the aeroponic cloners. Have you had that problem? I got an oxyclone system and have yet to use it…

Im rockin the little Daisy cloner. She works pretty good

My spray nozzles do get some (assumed)calcium flakes & chunks from time to time. The little pond pump I use does not have a screen filter. Its not an issue, remove blow air through and reinstall.

No, have not had a problem yet with clogged sprayers, and if I see one I can swap them out pretty quick, have plenty of extra sprayers, manifold, and pump, I always stock spare parts for everything.

I’d also recommend a bottle of Clear Rez and Clonex Cloning Solution, that combined with the Clone King has given me awesome results - not a single failed cloning attempt.

My last cuttings heavily rooted in 10 days

Darn I’m starting to worry that my oxyclone wont work as well as that… Thats amazing root development in ten days!

Yeah Buddy!

Yes I was amazed as well, that was faster root development than usual, the thing I did different for that cloning run was using tap water (near 500ppm) instead of RO water that I usually use. I guess the tap water is good for something but will likely clog the sprayers faster. I don’t care. I’ll just buy new sprayers for every run or 2 if I get roots like that in 10 days LOL.

Yeah thats awesome… I believe the chlorine in tap water is actually helpful for clones root development. It actually says to use tap water in the instructions to my oxyclone. But yeah those roots are worth the sprayers… I wonder if you could just clean them somehow too…

Yeah I have a little brush to clean them out with that I haven’t used yet after 4 runs, think I’ll give them a cleaning before the next cloning run. But I also have a bag of 100 new sprayers, just in case.

Yep… if it’s build up from tap water you can/should soak them is straight white vinegar for 24 hours; or even more. Scrub with toothbrush & rinse. Vinegar won’t hurt anything.

Well I’m stuck with the oxyclone for now. A friend said he had 100% success with his oxyclone system but that was 10 years ago  a few of the parts are different from his but I believe the overall product is the same. Cant wait to try it. I dont have the best luck in soil…
