Clones or cuttings?

I posted recently about clones vs cuttings and we got a little bit off topic…which worked out great but did not really get an answer. My definition of both…clone is small cuttings maybe 2 nodes…cutting is a larger cutting maybe a small entire branch. The large cutting was woody and easy to split an end and dip in rooting compound and they sprouted really healthy roots in a few days. I have had a lot of small clones not root at all after 2 weeks! What’s your experience and advice on this?

That’s correct , I’ve been told to take woody sections as they root better . I honestly haven’t researched that I just trust the person who told me many years ago , and It has served me well . I hardly ever have any losses . The times I have taken soft growth haven’t always worked . Again , I have no idea why . Peace .

A cutting is a clone…no matter what size it is. Will make a genetically identical plant once it develops roots.

I agree, the size of what you’re taking doesn’t make one a clone or a cutting. They are the same thing and can be used interchangeably in most context. You could maybe say cuttings are fresh and clones are rooted but if you were to say my cuttings have rooted is still a proper and accurate statement regardless of how tall they are.

I thought @Budbrother broke it all down pretty good :+1:t2:
I even learned ""dogs tongue " :green_heart::sign_of_the_horns:t2:

Yeah…I cut all those dog tongues off…all I wanted to know was if anyone had better results with large woody cuttings/clones or with small cuttings/clones…as far as growth and yield are concerned?
