So I took cuttings instead of clones…rooted 6-8” branches which really took off. I took them from a plant that was in veg stage. I put them in a dwc hydroponic reservoir that is in a grow tent. There is also a flowering plant nearby in a separate hydroponic system. The cuttings seem to be budding..note the flowers?…the leaves are HUGE compared to the flowering plant that started as a clone. Why? Also there are long single leaves…see pics for both…they are mutants..anyone grow from cuttings can tell me where this is going??and what’s with the long single leaves…should I remove them and the flowers?
The clones are the same age as the mother plant, so if it’s under bloom lighting, then they will go into bloom right away. As far as the long leaves, I have no idea but I’m sure someone will stop by and give input.
You haven’t been plucking them yet, so bigger solar panels. I noticed that I always have bigger fans before I start plucking on a plant. Think more leaves developing, so energy demand are spread out.
Dog tongues. That’s so common it has a name
They grow outta it, and you’ll start seeing 3’s then 5’s… Nothing is abnormal here. Get them, on a higher light schedule and revert fully so they don’t herm or flower out
I thought I could stop the flowering…thanks for confirming. Do you do cuttings and do they mature same as clones? They rooted so well and so easily that I intend to do it again if they are not just sterile bushes…
Ok then…I had never seen it. The leaves on the mature plant are much smaller and actually should have been ready today at 8 weeks but another week would help I think…it was originally a clone so I wondered if this was a difference between clones and cuttings…
Guess so…I thought if I went from the nursery at 8 hours of light to the tent with the maturing plant at 12 hours it would not flower…the mature plant has red light but the cuttings are under nearby t8 lights but not shielded from the nearby red..enough to flower I guess…
They’re both the same thing just different terms. The difference is, cutting are clones that haven’t been rooted yet.
You’re in the flowering zone under 13.5 hrs of light with photo sensitive plants. Thats why we run 18 hr light for veg. The red spectrum isn’t enough to trigger flowering alone. The reduction from 18 to 12 hrs signals flowering hormones.
You say you were running the clones on 8 and went 12. Although they got an increase in light, you’re still in the flowering zone. Seedlings can handle less hours without initiating flower sets before becoming sexually mature. However, the clones carry over age of the mother, and are already mature; so they need those 18-20 hours to avoid flowering
Thanks…great info!
