Using Cuttings to start a new plant

I have heard that some are using cuttings to start a new plant instead of a seed. I would like to know how successful this is and if so, what is needed to do.

Suggest you search out clones on the forum I’m sure most of your questions can be answered
But yes you can clone (take cutting ) from your growing plant and grow another plant that would have the same genetic structure as mother plant
Search out monster cropping think it will interest you
Good luck

Hello, this is how I do it …hope it helps

  • good luck

Successful depends on grower trying to do so new at it expect to fail a time or 2 before you get it. Cutting are clones, there are a few bbenefits in that such higher yield (doubled) saves money and is a great way to keep strain genetics around you no longer want to spend money on.

You can clone by taking a plant 2 weeks in flower from very bottom of plant (there cuttings tend to root faster). Cut as close to main stock as possible at a 45 degree angle.

Place in a, rockwool cube PhD to 5.6 and mist clones leave. You can cut leaves in half to focus growth on root growth. When you clone you never water at the base only by misting. Keep them covered by humidity dome for 3-10 days until rooted and healthy than plant in new home.

Hope this helps @Kapelady, happy growings

@Kapelady refresh our collective memory on the type of plants your are growing? Are the auto flowering?

@bob31 Yes auto flowering and White Widow. I played it a bit safe since this is my first time.

Same concept

Cloning autos are a little more complicated from what I have been reading. But I’m not gonna speak on what I don’t have first hand knowledge of.

Depends on your experience…and yes it is the same concept you dont cut any different always a 45 degree angle and you root it the same way as a photo period it just takes a little longer to root the only major difference

Hey bro just did my 1st successful clone from a healthy mother. She is showing white and orange hairs. The roots are minimal (soil) but she is 10 days super healthy. She is under red and blue leds. What nutrients should I give? High nitrogen or less because she will be flowering real quickly. Thanks for your input.

Something with a ratio of 2-2-2 should be good to start or a 2-1-6 ratio would be good

Appreciate you Majik. Should the ratio go higher as time goes on, and just treat her like a new born seedling for now?

I have been cloning in soil using alo vera juice with good results at ph 6.5. should i lower my misting water to 5.8 for better results? it is taking about 14 days to root at 6.5.

No keep misting at 6.5 if in soil that’s normal. In soil it will take longer to root rather than hydro materials such as a vermiculite perilite mix 1/3 vermiculite 2/3 perilite

@maximusindica yes gradually increase their ratios as they grow older, once they hit aggressive vegetative stage they can be increased to a ratio of 5-1-1 or 7-2-7 or a close ratio to that.

When mine hit aggressive vegitative they usually get a 7-2-7 ratio and my pleasure happy growings buddy im happy to help
