I’ve started a OG punch photo. It sprouted October 28th. My question is how do you determine when to start taking clones from the plant? This is gonna be the sole purpose of this plant is my plans. Took this pic this morning. And yes, thats a Snap-on Led light. LOL. It has started alot of my seedlings.
Take off unproductive side shoots after the plant is sufficiently mature (before flowering) and root those.
Supposing that you have femnized seeds, ya need to wait until it’s 2 months old to start taking clones. I recently took 25 clones from a Blue Sunset Sherbet female from Barney’s Farm. They were heavily rooted in 2 weeks using my cloner . Only lost 2, one of which I inadvertently pulled out while checking them for roots. Found her 2 days later, behind my cloner, all dryed up. I just transferred the clones to my little hydro setup. In another week, imma start my 12/12 lighting. Twas easy. All manner of helpful videos on YouTube. What a country ![]()
@MrPeaceman
What cloner do you have?
@MidwestGuy
Thanks for the link. Its very informative for sure.

When you’re growing a mother plant for clones do you “top” the plant? Also do you strictly take clones from the bottom up?
Thanks in advanced guys
Happy New year.
I take clones where I can find healthy ones that don’t detract from a plant’s productivity if you intend to eventually flower the plant.
You can top it if you wish, but if it is a pure mother plant that you never intend to flower, then there is no reason to top it.

Thanks man. This clone thing is new to me. I bought the root riot plugs, now wishing i had invested in a cloner. Do you have a preference, soil vs cloner?
I use Solo cups and soil placed in a tall seedling tray where I can maintain a very high humidity.
@MidwestGuy
Thanks.
