I’ve read a lot of the forums, grown a few plants but never successfully made it to harvest with a lady plant. I figured I’d try again with some bag seeds, but I’m having a hard time finding advice for my circumstances.
I’m in the southern Caribbean, we pretty much have 12/12 sunlight, rainy days, and it’s hot enough to curl my leaves.
Now, I repotted last week, and they’re growing fairly well. But I truly have no idea how to recognize the change in stages in real life. I’ve read that this light schedule can cause ‘early flowering’, but how would I tell? I’m seeing signs of what look like pistils, but could just be stipules (this is the one in the black container).
I grow specifically on a 12/12 schedule. They will flower 4 to 6 weeks once they broke surface generally speaking. Now my GSC Beast Vegged for 3 months straight before finally flowering.
The commercial farms in Colombia use a technique that you might adopt. Lights are hung over the plants and in the middle of the night are turned on for 15 to 30 minutes. This will trick the plants into thinking they are having a longer day cycle. Once the plants reach the desired height, discontinue the midnight light and they will flower.
Everyone is giving great advice. Only thing I would add, is watch for preflowers. The plant is telling you then it’s sexually mature. When you see those, and no additional light is added, it will probably flower within that time frame of what Mr.Peat stated. Happy growing.
You have the opposite problem that we here in the north have. However, we both should do the same thing when selecting weed to grow which is to select a strain that natively grows in our latitude. You really should be selecting an equatorial strain if you plan to finish outdoors. Just as I need to select strains that will finish at 50 degrees North. I need to cover my weed at the end game and you probably need shade clothe at the beginning to keep the heat under control. Another thing you may want to do is veg indoors under artificial light and plant out when they get too big for your house. That way they will flower with the 12 hour daylight.
Do you live in a weed friendly country? As others have suggested you could use outdoor supplemental light as others have suggested but it does send up an , hey everybody Im growing dope over here, flare.
Nope! On the street lights… the light intensity falls off pretty quickly. If anything, they may cause you issues during flowering? That is if the plants are close enough.
