I have four seedlings from seeds that were planted about 5 days ago…
My question is, would it be reasonable to just leave a ton of vents open in my tent instead of constantly running the fan and dropping my RH down to 40% ever time I do??
As far as vents go…there are two large square ones, two medium sized circular ones(one of which has a duct for intake), and one smaller one in the back… all of which are on the bottom portion of the tent.
Thus far I’ve tried:
-Hanging a damp towel over one of the bars on the top of the tent
-Leaving wet sponges near the vents where air comes in while the fan is on
-Leaving a wet sponge half out of a bowl of water near opening of the intake duct that’s outside of the tent
-Pouring a bit of water in the saucer underneath each pot
-Spraying mist/water on the walls of the tent, the floor of the tent
It seems like misting the entire tent raises RH easily and rapidly, but if I leave the inline fan on it’s lowest setting the tent will go from 60-70% rh back down to the 40s in an hour or two.
I suppose I could just seal the room the tent is in and put a humidifier in that room, but to an extent I was thinking the purpose of a tent is that you can create the right climate for growing without having to have that same climate exist in the entire room that the tent is in.
I put my humidifier in the lung room and it gets in the tents fine. But, my room is a spare room so it doesn’t go through rest of house. AC is in that room also. Try it to see if works for you.Good luck
At this point all you need is a little air movement. Using an inline fan especially if it connected to a filter is unnecessary. Use an oscillating or small floor fan now.
I got the total opposite. It’s 85% RH at night here in Thailand . I take fresh air from outside trough a duct inside my tent with a 6inch fan + air from my AC unit into my tent. The RH is constantly 70+%
I got a dehumidifier but i guess he can’t keep up with the fast air exchange. As the 6inch inline fan pumps in Humid air from outside to fast into my tent. Amy recommendations? Should I remove my duct from outside and let pull air from my room onto the tent ?
I’d make humidity domes and then mist them. I have trays with the 7” lids and i have made humidity domes from water bottles. It’s helped me keep airflow and RH
Damn, was having sane issue a few days ago. Saw this and though maybe I made the post and forgot. I think for my stage my lights we too high (power) so I lowered the power and the fan slowed down. Because I’m going to be doing a perpetual grow I’m trying to find a happy medium but I’m starting to think that might be getting a small cabinet set up for seedlings as needed.
I would just turn all the fans off for now. You really don’t need them. I have zero fans on while in my veg tent. If you want a little fan for some movement. These are nice. I have one I will use if my seedlings are going to be in there for more than the 10 days. I use one similar to this one.
what he said. Probability wont need it until odor or heat becomes a problem.
