I gave some to an old timer who struggled to sleep at night due to pain running down his right side. He was totally opposed to the idea and said it did nothing for him. Talked him into it and he slept from 10pm till 8am. Best nights sleep has had in years. He’s now a believer
my dad was USARB at ft riley and SF at ft bragg and somewhere in ky 2 times the army sure likes to rotate
My story is a mix of that old timer’s and @MrPeat I grew and smoked more weed than anyone should until I was 18, and then came the military and a career that required me to stay clean and maintain a clearance. I went hard over against it from age 19 until I was in my 50’s.
I started again to treat sleep problems (it works fabulously for sleep) and to treat an inflammatory condition and migraines. I’ve been back at it for a couple of years now.
as it will for many from now on
I never made it to Ft. Riley. I worked at Womack Army Med Center at Ft. Bragg. They tend to move people every 2 years (at least they did back then.)
I lived at ft bragg from 1964 until 1975. I remember Womack my little brother was born at bragg. my dads last post was ft riley.he was always running after “his GIs” to keep them from levenworth
I worked at the prison at Leavenworth in the medical center taking social histories from incoming inmates.
No prison is good, but Ft. Leavenworth isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. Unless you were a really bad guy downstairs you had a job at the farm (they grow a lot of their own food,) building furniture, or even at the commissary if your behavior justified some trust. All kinds of jobs are available there. You can actually earn a master’s degree there. No one “busts rocks,” as the legend goes.
I use to log travel pay at ft clayton for soldiers getting sent to leavenworth
crap I forgot it was always in triplicate. us army accounting and finance
I used to drive 430 miles to go to the Leavenworth VA. I got to see many prisoners come in there.
is that near ft lee? that’s where I was born
I smoked for the first time when I was 10. I quit long enough to pass MEPS, osut and part 2 of AIT in FL. After that all bets were off for almost any drug after that. Get up at 0500 PT til 0700 combat patrol 0800-1500/1700. I was looking for everything to keep me awake during the day, then what put me down for the night after that lol. I did a year tour, took four weeks leave, another year, another four weeks leave. Went from AFG to Osan AB for six months and that was the end of my active (sign bonus was 20k 3 active 3 inactive instead of 4/4) I was already the most aggressive asshole with an addictive personality before I enlisted. As you can imagine those circumstances did not bode well for my well being and decision making
Edit:and I enlisted as a diver 12D so logically they sent me to the place with no water.
our next door neighbors were for real hippies. I adored them. oops. their kids shared the weed with us in the 4th grade. too bad I didn’t know how to inhale back then
We used to sniff Tabasco Sauce to wake up. Nothing like sitting on a mountain verifying Intel. Gotta love being Recon…the crazy bastards let loose on the world. ![]()
lol. I got busted at MEPS (pee test for weed) because all the guys there partied in the hotel the night before the physical. They brought in a drill sergeant type to rough me up and get me to confess. I had to sign something saying I wouldn’t do it again.
Moral waiver?
I don’t really remember. It wasn’t a big deal after I fessed up. They just had me sign a letter saying that I wouldn’t do it again and sent me on to the next step.
Well they totally f-ked me in 08. I was down to four months left of inactive and was trying to reenlist and got arrested and got a felony and they gave me BCD dd214. Which further made me say F it. I didn’t get my shit together really til 2014
I had Concrete Poisoning in my feet when I shipped off to Ft Knox in Sept 1995. Lets just say running was very painful for about 2 months. I was very careful when we had to show our feet. Then the Army put me in regular sized combat boots when I have a 5E foot. They eventually had a company outside Boston make my special sized combat boots.
