I really don’t want to have to keep buying spring water so was hoping someone could clarify if these parameters are okay for cannabis. I do not know the ph but I have living soil at the moment. It seems fine to water the grass but I know they’re two different plants and one is in a pot.
Sure, how’s the iron and calcium levels
Nothing bad and you’ll be adding the goods
Oooo so what you see so far looks good? I don’t even see that listed so maybe it’s an insignificant amount.

The first item is Chloramine and it does not gas off. They sell reptile and aquarium pellets that will remove chloramine.
Other than that, does not look bad. Check the PPM’s and deduct that from your feeding PPM’s.
Would Ppms apply to organic fertilizers like Craft blend and BuildaBloom from Buildasoil? A lot of these terms are foreign to me even after being on here about a month. I know ppm is parts per million just may have to look at packaging more for that.
Not familiar with those specifically but I would assume since nutrients are measured in PPM’s when feeding, that the answer is yes it still applies. So let’s say your water has a total 250 ppm’s. You want to feed at 1000 ppm’s, deduct the 250 that is already in your water and mix in the nutes required to bring the total ppm’s to 1000 (750 more) and then pH your water based on your medium and water in slowly.
Do you have a PPM/TDS pen for measuring how much you are feeding her?
See i went the living soil route in hopes that ph would be controlled and not having to measure my fertilizers. So i would add all of the ppms on that chart and then if i can figure out the ppm of the product keep it under 1000? Oi Vey lol theres just soo much to consider when growing this stuff.
Currently have some black kow mixed with kellogs organic potting mix and my own compost. There are worms in the soil, springtails and soil mites (and thrips atm ). I just read i should either quarter or even half the recommended of BuildaSoils fertilizers to rpevent burning the plant and thats the extent of my knowledge.
I purchased a ph pen from vivosun and between the PH’d calibration powders and the way the digital display worked I felt like it was all just a bust and tossed it. The display wouldnt show correctly and there was never really a clear indication that one step was completed. Im just tired of spending so much money after the intial startup costs so i let it be. Hell the Par meters being told to get are more than my tent so I went with a lux meter and found a conversion for the meter.
says the lead is in the ppb so would that already put me out of the ppm chart?
Good catch, I seen No above when I first read it and took it wrong
I have a rain barrel that I watered mine with originally. I had read rain water is good to use, and they seemed to like it. But mine were going to be outside plants so I kind of felt they should start with the water they will always have.
I’ll learn if this was a good plan or not
These are 2 different things. Ph can be controlled by pH perfect nutrients and living soils, but ppm’s still need to be measured and I would not use the chart for determining your taps ppms. You need a pen for ppm’s if you want to do it by the book. If you are going to feed your girls using a gallon of water, then you ppm the gallon, deduct that from what you want to feed and then add nutrients until your total ppm in the gallon is at 1000. these numbers are only for clarification of what we are discussing.
1 ppb = .001 ppm
It may seem like alot and may also seem complicated but it isn’t.
Here is all you need to grow great weed;
- A good light. Most important investment you can make
- pH and PPM pens. Some do it all. I use separate pens for this. The Apera 20 is not expensive and is well worth it. a pH pen that works that comes with 4.0 and 7.0 fluids for simple 2 step calibration
- good soil that is designed for cannabis. Or whatever medium you choose as long as it is cannabis friendly
- Fans for circulation and refreshing your tent
- Humidifier or Dehumidifier depending on where you live
- Timers
- Good nutrients
That seems like it…
Thank you I was just looking to find ppm for buildasoils product and he briefly explains it. I will look and give my estimate on the ppm is there any way you can let me know if I’m close? I’m not trying make you do all my thinking just want to double check here in a little while when I add them up. Also could you recommend a reasonably priced pen that can do all of that? I want to do this right and if I have to buy one I definitely will. I’m sure with tap the ppm will change constantly so I’ll need to see.
Running two spiderfarmsf1000 in a 2x3x5 and one can do a 2x2 per the manufacturer, I hope this is sufficient. Everything else you listed seems like I have except a ph and ppm pen but would like your recommendation on ph pen since you just gave me a ppm pen suggestion.
If I am understanding you, PPM’s are not something you estimate. You can’t know how much to feed if you do not know how much she has eaten. I use synthetic nutes currently so I have to water to runoff when I water to wash out the salts. The runoff is where you find out the ppm’s in the soil and how much she has eaten since last feeding. If the runoff is showing 450 ppms for example and 1000 is always your target, then you would feed at 550-650.
Using a living soil, you feed the soil not the plant and you do not need to water til runoff every time.
So would I need a soil meter? Or is this when people are talking about a soil slush(not sure the term) to test? So ppm is all I need to consider when giving nutrients to the plant?
Soil meters are not great for this hobby.
Measuring pH and ppm’s are best done with digital meters.
Yes on the ppm’s and feeding
I recommend the Apera pH 20 for pH and they have ppm/tds pens as well.
Thank you @Bonjoyle now I feel a little more confident with the ppm stuff going to purchase that now.
I have been seeing your posts here and there. I am on daily since I always have a window up while I am working. If I can ever be of any help tag me and I will respond pretty quickly.
Thanks bro I feel weird tagging people making them feel obligated so I appreciate that. I’m a disabled veteran with a lot of time on my hands so no excuse I can’t do it right.
