Can I still smoke buds if plant had thrips?

From a fellow grower: I found some thrips, is the bud still salvageable when dried and safe to smoke?

Hello, I encourage you to join the forum. Its a nice friendly place.
Thrips live on sap and will leave the bud once you dry them.
There are bud friendly insecticides, if you still have time before harvest, that wont harm your buds.
Then a simple bud wash to remove unwanted stuff would be good.
I am sure in the history of cannabis we have all smoked a few bugs.

You cant stop nature. We eat bugs and worms all the time in produce we buy.
In fact I would venture to say we probably need those tiny bug nutrients in our bodies for something.
Mankind has survived for thousands of years eating much less sanitary food than we do and a lot of them were far stronger than us. However the idea is a bit off-putting. :nauseated_face:

I hung a Japanese Beetle lure in my chicken pen and the chickens would grab those little suckers as they went for the lure. One of the most satisfying things I ever saw.
I hate Japanese Beetles. Pretty much killed my cherry tree a few years ago.

Hi ok so I will be ok just letting them dry rust then wash or wash first then dry. I grew a nice blue berry plant and when checking before chopping I noticed a couple nats I had thought at first I did look up on google. What I discovered was they are thrips.

Bud wash, then let ‘em dry.

Wash in a mix of drug store peroxide and water. I use 1 cup of peroxide per 5 gal of water. :v:

I dunk to fully submerge, then swish a few times, pull it out, let it drip mostly off and then dunk in plain water to rinse. Swish a little, then pull it out and shake (gently) til the drips are mostly done.

@Graysin FTW!

I do the same dunk and swish described above. I do a 3rd bucket. 1st bucket couple splashes of lemon juice and a cple tblsp baking soda in 5 gal RO
2nd bucket I do 1/2 quart 3% H202 in 5 gal RO
3rd pure RO water.
