Hey everyone,
I’ve got a soil grow grow going with Biscotti mintz (Barney’s farm). It’s been in flower for 57 days (breeder predicts 59-63 days to maturity).
I know trichomes are the determining factor and to my inexperienced eye, they look ready. I have a cheap microscope and I can’t get any good pictures. I know that’s extremely unhelpful, but I see basically all cloudy with some Amber here and there. But that said, the buds look a little under developed to me. So many white pistils is throwing me off.
I’ve been giving only water for the last four days, and today, my runoff EC was 0.9. The only visual queue that could be mistaken for senescence is this fan leaf, but it looks more like nutrient burn to me.
From here I planned to continue giving it water for another 6 days then chop. That will be 63 days, the high end of the breeder’s recommendation (I know, I know).
I know it’s tough to say without a picture of the trichomes, but based on these pictures and my description, do you think waiting a few more days then chopping is a good idea?
Looks like the bracts are closed around the red pistils. Youre very close. If you’re seeing amber, you’re in the window.
Do you have a microscope to look closer and the trics?
She looks gorgeous, I’m sending you some reinforcements that know more about this area.

You found me ![]()
Looking at the pictures, I’d say he could wait a week or more. Plenty of white pistils still that haven’t receded yet or turn reddish… But the only way to tell precisely would be with a microscope or a magnified picture of the trichomes. ![]()
Looks can be so deceiving with these plants
Some cameras wil zoom in pretty close, then you can zoom that pic.
These just had the red hairs recede and are just “all cloudy” .
@kaptain3d recommendation is a good basis on the info we have.

I know these aren’t great, they are pictures of images from my microscope.
Does this help at all?
Tons of clear and barely cloudy, is that a sugar leaf or an actual calyx on a bud? Leaves will turn before buds. If I had to pick a time, I’d give it a week minimum and likely two. The small investment for a scope will pay for itself. We can guess all day but trichs are the storyteller here. Good luck!
Does that look “mostly cloudy” or “half cloudy, half amber” to you?
Really? See they look cloudy to me. If I give it another week or two, should I feed in that time or only water to allow the plant to consume itself?
Pretty sure it’s a calyx. Tried to avoid leaves
Does the rest look milky to you? They look milky to me but I saw somebody else say they were mostly clear, hardly any cloudy
Its unlikely to have mostly clear and some amber. You definitely have “some” amber. I do not see mostly clear. You could pull a little piece and look more thoroughly. Thats how I do it.
The pictures are actually from a bud I pulled off of the lowest budsite, and I know those mature last. I dunno the buds just don’t look right to me
@Growdoc you see mostly clear? Are you seeing the amber? Am I crazy ![]()
Can you turn down the light on your scope? Its pretty bright.
Lights are off for the night but I’ll try again
