Hi guys, my second go at this. Got a microscope this time round, planning to harvest Saturday that would be 8½ weeks in flower. See some pics, all from different buds. Will she be ready?
Go for it! Giddyup!
Thanks for the response, for in future am I waiting for a small amount of brown trichomes? If I’m going for max potency that is, I understand there is an element of preference.
When they just start to turning it’s time to harvest depending on the buzz you’re looking for. The more amber the longer your on the couch. I wouldn’t wait till Sat though, that’s just me. I like that creative uplifting can’t stop laughing buzz.
Yeh?! just don’t have the time to sort it before then, I don’t have space for hanging branches so have to wet trim. I’ll know for next time. Thanks anyway, thing I was struggling with was know if they were clear or cloudy, guess they were cloudy from when I first looked. I’ll put up a pick of her before I chop if I remember. It’s one plant in a 3 x 3 ( she fills the whole thing) in rdwc I’m quite proud.
Parents are always proud of their children!
Its is time to chop them
@Helpmegrowbuds Doesn’t look close to me. The pistils are mostly white. Probably weeks to go.
Is this the same plants from the earlier pic…because this one is not ready
Most of the ambers that I’m seeing in your first pics appear to be on the sugar leaf.
They’ll amber up about 1-2 weeks before the plant is ready.
Had a look at the over all full plant pic too.
Jmho here. I’d give it another week at least if it was my plant. Maybe 2.
Thanks for your input. I’ll try post a couple close up bud pics tomorrow, I’m in the UK so she sleeping right now. Might help with a diagnosis, it is not as much Amber pistils as I would have thought I needed but the trichomes look mostly cloudy.
It’s far easier to take a plant early than late. There’s no perfect havest day…there’s a harvest window of about 2 weeks. If you take it too soon you’ll be disappointed.
As others have stated above, trichomes on the sugar leaves alaway amber up before the trichomes on the bracts (calyxs). Wait till you think shes really done…then wait a week.
I’d give that plant at least a week more, maybe even two. That said trichimes can mature fairly quickly so check em each night before lights out. If you like what you see…chop the next morning. In my experience terpenes are most pungent in the AM.
Hey there @madhatter1 I, too, want that uplifting experience. This is my first grow so still have tons to learn. What do I look for for the uplifting as apposed to calming? TIA for your wisdom!
Here is my Durban Poison week 9 of flowering
You definitely want them when there milky/cloudy and the amber is just starting to show. A little bit of amber isn’t gonna hurt but others may have there own thoughts. Now some of your trichomes look to be still clear. Your real close maybe a week. Just keep a close eye on them.
I agree with @Oldguy . Another week or 2 . I have the same going on with mine right now. Trichomes on sugar leaf are turning but the buds are about a week out.
Took your advice, waiting to chop. Its really interesting because yesterday the leaves started quite rapidly turning purple around the flowers. Its barney’s farm purple punch feminised and this is the first the purple has made an appearance. I know not every pheno will be purple. This isn’t a sign of anything bad? The nights have been a little colder but I have a heater and a thermostat in there.
Use your grow tent to hang and dry. Wet trimming sucks and hanging and drying is far better when it happens slow and steady. So long as you have 55% humidity and no hotter than 70° , and darkness, yo have a place. While rge plant is still in the pot, remove the larger fan leaves, then cut the plant at the main stem and hang the entire plant.
My outdoor plants get frosted in the fall, don’t use your heater. The purples are the genetics of PP. The cooler temperatures bring out the purple hues. I have had my plants experience nights in the low 30’s and it only made them better.
