Can I combine my autos with photos?

Just throwing my experience in the ring. My biggest auto to date was started and grown 12/12 its entire life. I’ve read numerous articles talking about how autos don’t really care about light schedule. They are going to develop on their time, convert to flower when they want. So I’d be surprised if it actually went back into veg bc you started 12/12 then bumped up to 18/6

Now thats what I was curious about. Reversing the schedule without freaking the plant out.
