Hey growmies I’m in the market for a top notch light to replace my other 2, or another light to add to my room. I’m at about 35 sq ft 7x5 and 10 foot ceilings. I currently have a mars hydro sp3000 and an HLG 200r. I got 5 plants started, 3 of which are regular photos( santa marta gold) 1 death bubba fem and 1 RQS special kush fem So I may not need flowering coverage for all 5, or I may throw some autos in if I lose any. I’ve been considering Hlg scorpion Diablo, a 750 Diablo or a tomahawk 720. Also checking out the grandmaster tarantula lights. Seem very legit. So do I buy a 1 mortgage payment light or add another 3-500 watt light. Which idea is going to give me the best coverage and the cheaper electric bill?
I’m no expert by any means, but I would keep the two that you have for seedlings/veg and get a good flowering light for a 5x5, and use the current ones as supplemental. HLG has been the best in my book for years now and what everyone usually recommends. That being said I am also looking at the new Mammoth lights for when I step up my grow.
If you don’t mind a refurbished light HLG has those as well and they still include a warrantee, just a lot smaller selection that rotates.
I am looking at the SF 4000 301H evo. I have several led grow lights,; the ones with samsung 301 h seem to produce higher yeilds. The vivosun vs2000 I also had good grow with. I used 3 of them in a 4x4 flowering the footprint doesn’t seem very wide. The Parfactworks 301h 1500 which is smaller seems to cover more area. I am no expert just sharing my results.
I see you have an ACI t3 humidifier in there just got one myself. How do you like it and have you looked at the ACI lights? They have (ACI) have really inpressed me with there quality and service. They seem to have become a “One Stop Shop”. Im a big fan of HLG as well, cant go wrong there for sure.
I have the Tarantula Tent Ultimate, the par maps they advertise are accurate. In fact mine seems to do a bit better than what they show on their site. I wired up a 220 circuit just for it and haven’t needed to put it beyond level 6 on the 69 pro controller. I plan to try running some Co2 in the future and it should allow me to run as much as I want.
5x5 tent.
The lights hang’n in the front are two SF1000’s, and 1 HLG 65 v2. The SF’s I borrowed from the ole lady, she uses them for our veggies, the 65 is my seedling light. I just needed to move some out of the tent and needed more lights.
I originally ran it with 120v but after switching to 220v my cost dropped a little on usage.
You’re the one I seen with the grand master tarantula tent! I couldn’t remember where I read about it. You had me researching them, and their par map on that light is pretty unbelievable. I was going to go with HLG something until I seen yours. Does that light still use provided pulley hangers like most other brands? How’s the heat from the driver?
I love everything ac infinity makes. Their tent quality is top notch, Clip in fans and humidifiers are great and the 69 pro controller is awesome too. I’ve heard nothing but good things about there lights, just really hadn’t given them much thought. My one humidifier stopped working after only a few weeks of use, but then after sitting a few days it turned back on. Was pretty weird, other than that. I’m sold on ac infinity
Yeah I think the 2 lights I have now will get me through veg no problem, so I do still have some time to make a decision. I’m now leaning towards a 3 rd light so I have the ability to raise or lower individual lights according to plants. Growing sativas and indica im bound to have different height issues somewhere.
Pulleys come with it, when ordering I selected 220v and it came with both 120 & 220 cords.
I’m in a 65 year old non insulate house and the lung room is a 8x12, I have two 50 pint dehumidifiers, four ACI 6" fans, an old counter top beer fridge running all the time with a variety of pumps running intermittently. I have one window A/C, 5000 BTU. Tiny, like the smallest I could find. Out side temps are high 80’s to low 90’s, tent stays below 80. If the house A/C is on, I can open the lung room door and the tent will drop to 72.
I have lights off from 2pm to 8pm.
They have an extension available to mount the driver outside the tent.
I also have the whole front of the tent open, with it closed the temps are better. Draws cool air from the bottom, with the open front, the warmer air from high in the room gets drawn in.
Edit: Temps and power usage both are better using 220v.
I was looking at the sf se7000 also… very nice light I’ve just been leaning towards the Samsung 301h diodes. I’ve been reading they are a little better than the 301b.
I should mention, I’ve been happy with my little HLG 65 v2 as well. Let me tell you about HLG.
When using it for supplemental lighting, I had the dimmer all the way up and it toasted after a couple of days. Contacted HLG and they sent me 3 replacements shipped out the same day. They also said those dimmers had some issues so they sent 3 to get me by until the new upgraded dimmers arrived.
The next day I received the email the upgraded dimmer was shipped. They are a fantastic Co. to take care of customers like that.
Just thought I should mention it.
Ive been using that hlg65v2 for my seedling light and it does wounderful work node spacing on seedlings is perfect and good solid grouth till 2 weeks after transplant. Then i drop the hlg240xlr in and off she goes!
