Buying a new light. what should i get?

I want to buy a more powerful light. I don’t want to spend anymore than 700, I am heavily considering a spyder farmer 4000. What do you guys think? What are your favorite lights?

What size area are you trying to light? Also are you set on LED? Seems like popular choice around here is HLG for leds. I got a SF-2000 for a 2x4 and the new model has a built in dimmer knob. Best of luck.

@dbrn32 Is the light guy from what I’ve seen. He can point you in the right direction.
Cheers brother!
PS the Spider Farmer is a good option btw. I love mine. Can’t complain. However there is always “better options” as led tech is still progressing.

Sf4000 is what I use for my 4x4. IDK i like it so far.

Yeah it’s a great light. Not trying to steer you away at all. Plus if you get the new model you get the dimmer plus daisy chain ability.

I bought it for 4/20 this year. Wish the new model was out then.

It’s pretty neat. I still have yet to crank it all the way up as we’re still in seedling/sprouting. However at 18” above the plants @ 65% capabilities I was getting LUX readings of 60k. Kind of strong for them at this time but one was “praising the light” the other day. They love it. So I’m keeping it here for the moment.
Congrats on the new light whichever it may be. I’m sure it will be a great choice :metal:

Might want to look at HLG lighting? Seems like the standard these days for pumping out good pot

2- HLG 260xl’s will hit you right at $700 but have the deep reds for flowering that the sp4000 doesn’t have. Here’s the spectrum difference.

Yeah that’s what I was saying previously. HLG seems like the more popular choice here. It seems the official site is sold out atm but he can probably find it elsewhere.
Happy Hunting!

Combined with COVID and being a phenomenal light is a reason they’re sold out on HLG. Growerslights dot com still has them. I’m worried supply and demand is going to drive these lights up in price. Luckily I have backup boards ready to go should anything go out. So far after 2 years of running, non stop, not one issue.

Yeah I believe that for sure. Now that we’re on to the subject. I was looking at the 100W or the 65w the 3000k ones, for a 2x2 project for one big plant. You think these are worth it or should I opt for the 135w Bspec board? Or would the R specs be more beneficial sorry it just connected in my head that B spec is blue and Rspec is red :joy:

If you want to go seed to flower 135w rspec. (Bspec is veg only) Or even 135w 3000k (if you can find them) will work. This was a plant in a 2x2 on 135w 3000k

I still like the two 260xl kits in a 4x4. You know you are getting top performance bins in a footprint that is tried and true. It definitely seems like they have been selling out quickly when in stock. But someone looking should be able to find them reasonably soon.

@BobbyDigital what was final dry weight on that plant?

That one was around 5oz
