Used bug spray on plant in the late evening, next morning the newly forming buds were black along with some of the leaves. Have i killed the buds or is there a recovery solution? Not all bud sites on the plant are affected, probably 1/2. Plant is Photo, outdoors about 14-15 weeks old in plastic pot. temps are between 80 - 90 degrees during day. Plant was extremely healthy before insecticide used. Help!
Hmm I’m wondering if the insecticide was too hot for the plant and buds…I’ve used Captain Jack’s deadbug, even being in full flower now with no discoloration at all. I hope she recovers for you!
I feel like spinosad is the bug killer that won’t cause as many issues with your plant, is that spinosad?
I just used captain jacks deadbug to control some caterpillars without any issues , but i believe it is a bacterial solution that the bugs cant tolerate and the plant doesn’t mind. If yours is straight up insecticide I’d be afraid to smoke it.
I only use Deadbug, the OP used the other stuff.
Sorry replied to wrong person lol
Lol all good grow bro
“Rainproof in 1 hour” has me thinking that the culprit is whatever does the “rainproofing”. That means there is something in the solution that actually bonds to the plants. That also means, it won’t wash away and you will end up smoking said something along with the pesticides.
Dont mean to be a smart ass but did you dilute the "concentrate per instruction?
It looks like it might have been mixed up alittle hott for the stage of growth.
A good note to go off of is ‘not’ to spray your plants the first 1-3 weeks of flower. During this time the pistols are very very sensitive. Spraying at the wrong time can hinder flower production in the future.
I like to use PureCrop one. If I have a bad bug outbreak I will spray three consecutive evenings. This will allow you to get all the adult bugs and also the eggs that have been laid.
If I don’t have any bug I still spray the garden every two weeks. With a ration of 1oz per 1 gallon of fresh water.
A lot of the time with growing cannabis you will find out that less is best. For example. If I were to feed my plant 4 cups of liquid fish I would mix up two 5 gallon buckets. Feeding the plants 10 gallons of nutrients rather then 5 gallons of twice and strong stuff.
The active ingredient is a pyrethrin like Neem oil. Neem will burn plants if applied under lights. In your case being outdoors aggravates that.
I would never spray pyrethrins on flower. Ever. Captain Jack’s Deadbug Brew and Safer Caterpillar killer are the better choices.
Hope you haven’t ruined your harvest…
:slight_smile
It is certainly possible that the insecticide was/is to hot. The active ingredient is Cyfluthrin which is a form of pyrethrin as suggested by Myfriendis410. Looks like I made a huge error, especially applying it to early flowering. Thank you so much, I hope the plants will recover and I can wash the stuff off after harvest. Any suggestions for recovery are appreciated.
Thanks for the info. You may be right about it being to “hot”. Good advise. Thanks
Let her grow out and do her thing. These are resilient plants and can take a lickin and keep on tickin. I would def suggest doing a bud wash when you harvest. If you have an insect issue and Jacks doesnt help, im using Azamax with a nano sprayer and its working very well.
On occasion I’ve used Pyrethrin outside but never the synthetic Pyrethrinoids. What I learned to avoid your current situation is, wet the plants prior to spraying in the evenings. Directly sprayed on dry plants, will burn and kill smaller plants. I applied after a rain storm, and I never had any issues. Since then, I wet the plants down and wait 20-30 mins prior to spraying on my ornamentals in the evening.
Trimmed off all the burned, non recoverable buds and leaves, in my opinion, from the plant. a couple shown in Pics. Several had also turned yellow overnight so I removed them. Looking for healthy recovery, I hope! Open to any suggestions of course. also uploaded what leaves looked like and trimmed plant and aspiring cola.
