Budz' Dreams in Coco

Oh. I realize that seems strange for me to notice it this late. 4 days later. But this was when it started to set in, I expected it. So I was already trying to rush the first part of cure. Since the boveda packs will provide me that luxury. But everything is back on track/system. (☞^o^) ☞

If you didn’t notice they were starting to show nitrogen uptake issues from high temps and lack of air exchange. The very faint lime green that was setting in. I wouldn’t be able to identify it though. If I didn’t already know it was coming. Glad it all lined up effectively. As in I had the issue fixed before it became one. Since I knew it was gonna be inevitable. But. Last is jarred. One plant, 2x4 ~180g .72g/w. So HVAC system is all back in place to it’s dialed in settings.

Wow. Look at this 3hr comparison of above post. This is why all cardinal parameters should be considered/dialed in. Growth back in full force with just air velocity and circulation corrected back.

Got the mother moved back to veg tent. Everything stabilizing back. Hit 86 in infinity tent doing all this.

Skywalker placed in coco for the long veg. Since other tent won’t be open for awhile. Week two of flower in there.

Amazing growth rate. As you can see I’ve started the backfill too.

1.25ml of silica blast and 2ml tribus used today. Keep forgetting what day I use tribus. Lol

And we have germination on the Skywalker! This is why I go straight in medium. At this amount of time you would just now be taking it out of your cube or paper towel. Instead it’s already in its forever home.

no soaking??

Nope. Straight out the seed store bag into medium. Have done so with all plants on this thread. Which are my 3 in coco. Both blue dream and the hopeful Skywalker where all placed directly in coco from store baggy. I swiped away the surface to get that germination shot. Could’ve light shocked her a little. As always I’m testing curiosity. But my main idea here is that coco is really just an oversized version of paper not pressed together. So the idea of a paper towel after soak would be the exact same as going in coco. Coco also holds moisture 2x its weight. So. It’s soaked already. Y’know. Just makes more sense to me to go directly in coco.

Theoretically growing in coco is exactly the same as growing in a pile of shredded up paper towels. Except it has a different one way structure. Won’t get into that here tho.

Plus that’s how we always did it for outdoor when I was a tag along teenager. Also how @Hellraiser has found it to be just as effective. If soak and towel work for you. Do it. Honestly didn’t work for me. Directly into medium has always though… won’t be going back to soak.

ok cool next question. presoaked your medium/soil??

My coco comes as a brick. So yup. Should be listed above.

Yep, me neither. I just plant straight to medium, no soak, no paper towels. Done all the methods over the years and see no real benefit to the other methods.

I only do the paper towel method when I’m just testing a batch of seeds to see if they are still good and to check germination rates.

I did a seed germination test once (I should do it again and document it on the forum) where I did all 3 methods at once, 5 seeds straight to medium (happy frog soil), 5 seeds in a 24 hour water soak then planted in medium, and 5 seeds in wet paper towel/ziploc bag til tails showed, then planted in the medium. The seeds planted directly to medium did the best, grew the fastest, were the largest sprouts by the end of the week.

Topped them. With current space limitations, I think imma skip another hunr for now. Killed the test subject from the superb pheno. Beyond keeping it. Think imma just grow these out. If either astoundes I’ll monster it, left one probably. They got topped today, once I know they recovered I’ll hit them 48hr darkness. They’ll wake up to a 11/13 schedule that hits around a dli of 60 on a 12/12. So their actual dli will be less. I’ve just found the 11/13 to be superior to the 12/12. Which is superior to a 10/14 in the beginning by far. 10/14 should only be used after week 7 of flower. Since at that point the plant isn’t trying to get bigger and light doesn’t get along with trics. So this change in late does benefit. Just not till late.

Only killed the one since her third gen has taken.

Kill the hunt* as in I’m not gonna take clones unless it’s a monster crop, only because it’s really impressive pre harvest, like either could be. It’s a gamble I know. But I really don’t have the space for more than 2 mothers. And I already have one.

Need to keep some veg space. Not removing the propegation table.

Maybe one of these 30 will produce an unbelievable high and it’ll be my second mother. But that Chocolope I keep in the corner does all that it says it will. Including the potential wall you may hit, since it’s primarily an upper. This pheno so strong if you take 5+ hits you are guaranteed to hit that wall within an hour. 2-3 and you’ll be completely focused. balance
