Going coco for future grows now that I got a couple good soils under belt. Using a 4x4 veg tent with propagation table inside for those two things. Got two in soil still finishing in flower tents, one just flipped. One with 3 ish weeks left. So this will start slow with just two blue dream and plenty of time to veg. They will be going into a 2x4 with a 2020 sf2000
So those are the tents. Using jacks for nutrients, brick coco, tribus and signal in flowering.
Veg tent has a 100w blurple for veg and a 20w propagation full spectrum led.
The flowering tents have a shared environment using a charcoal exhaust filter, multiple double layer carbon filters (altered flap covers). One 4" inline ac infinity fan with controller, one 6" ac raxial, one 4" ac raxial.
It’s definitely much cleaner. And the first clone I put in coco took off instantly after transplant. So I’m sold. Less pest issues, Easier watering, feed every water every day. Just seems easier. Less to remember. No soil attracting pests.
Loving my first coco grow my autos are getting huge there only 15 days old and ones bottom leaves are bigger than the 5gal pot she sits in. I’m going to tag along @Budz! Love the set ups mang!
Once you go coco you don’t go back 1st grow in peat moss blend and it was decent but it just holds to much water so you end up overwatering if you re not careful but I slightly overwater my girls in coco every watering and they don’t mind sucking it up the next 12 hours without a single bit of drooping
Careful with that thought about not attracting pests. I was pretty sure the same but now my big room is overrun with gnats. I’m now using skeeter bits and milk and sticky traps.i think I might be getting ahead of them. I have a few weeks to go til chop so it’s a race to see if I can get there before they kill my plants. Point being coco doesn’t mean no pests. Next run I’ll have bits in there from the start. And the milk.
Oh. You have no clue what I deal with in B.F.E… I’m in low laying farm lands. It’s lord of the flies outside right now, will be for another 2 months too. These are the real MVP. This one was emptied, rinsed, water till line and bait dropped in less than a week ago. This is one inside my shop. Gnats stand no chance round here. We deal with their version of giants in a plague. Lol.
Last growI had a lot of nat problems used mosquito bits worked very well this round I’ve been using those ultrasonic mosquito and pest repellers one in each room I’m about 4 weeks and now and not one nat knock on wood, I have mosquito bits just in case but I’m very impressed with the ultrasonic pest repell ers also using Fox farms Happy frog so you would expect some pests but so far so good just thought I’d share ultrasonic pest repellers work very well
I thought about going straight to 5gal. Just didn’t have the room at the time. Added more storage to the grow room and a desk yesterday to solve those issues. My 4x4 even has a couple wall mirrors in it from moving stuff around. Lol
Also. They have already been moved over to under the 100w blurple. Once the sf tent is empty I’ll take clones from that choco gen 2 and kill her off. I’m out of soil till then and don’t see a reason to buy more for one mother plant. The ac tents plant is in mostly used soil from first grow, she’s doing fantastic, so definitely gonna reuse the other too.
Moved them back up to table. Spilt one while working with the 3 of them down there. Decided against that in the future. No more solo cups off the table. Kept her mostly intact, harder with coco. She’s fine tho. Stem still thickening and turning back up to the light, I dropped her in slightly sideways but wasn’t gonna bother her further. Left one.
This may not be much but the convenience of a 5KG brick of coco sure makes it easy to handle.
No guessing about what & how much to feed plants. If you don’t give it them they don’t get anything.
PH & ppm maintenance. I think flushing, if needed, is easier and more efficient in coco. I haven’ done this but it is supposed to be easier to reuse. Wash and go. Because you can be feeding all of the time, growth is not only faster but more of it.
I have only grown two plants in coco. If I had more experience I could think of more reasons. I also have four plants in peat and perlite (Dr. Bruce Bugbee recipe) and they are doing great (other than my ph screwup).
