Best light for 2 plant max?

What’s up everybody. I’ve got a very simple question to ask and I would like as many people possible to give me their opinion.

If you had to choose 1 light which would it be ?? I grow 2 plants max and I’m kinda on a budget. I run 260 true watts now but they are Chinese cheapos. Let me know your opinions and post a link with your comment please.

Happy growing everyone❗️

in my 4x4 tent I grow 2 plants each grow…I currently have a Marshydro FC-E6500 in there for nearly a year now and it seems to do ok for my setup…not sure what I would choose if I had to replace it…HLG lights seem to be liked by a lot of growers on this forum

Two plants in a tent? Closet? Open Room? Grow area size? More to it than two plants max.

So it’s a 3x8x8 closet but I only use one side for plants. The other side for fan as you can see. I have ventilation, I have more Mylar to finish the whole room. Temp stays 72-81 degrees.

The number of plants is not what matters.
Here are two plants. Each has its own HLG 260

I’ve grown as many as 12 in the same space. This shows 6 under one 400 watt light

I currently have 4 plants in a 3x3. Prior to this I grew one. The tent has 450 watts.

Define your space and fill that space evenly with the best light you can afford.

So would this light be enough ??

I watched you tube video last night by Stoney Road, never heard of this guy,

I was googling ppfd map for my HLG 300L.

He was testing new Meanwell light driver upgrade by hlg. In short, the numbers went up.

Where i purchased my light, authorzed dealer, same warranty,

Guaranteed to match any web price. 319.00 versus 379.00

Your closet offers a few challenges. All that unused area to the left of your current grow area is wasting light. While it offers you room to work, a fan, possibly a humidifier and or a dehumidifier. The light used to light up that area is wasted light. A curtain would help make your grow space much more efficient. Anytime you have a 3’ dimension in your grow area it complicates things. 3’ anything is not ideal at any level. It forces you to think about your lighting as if you had 4’ to work with. If it was my grow space I would have at min two HLG 320 Rspec kit lights or two 350R in the space. Basically treat your grow space as a 4’ x 4’. That would mean a 600 Rspec or the 650R…

More is always better. I run all hlg except for my 6x8 room which is old school mh/ hps that will soon also be hlg. I cram as many 600 rspecs as will fit. My 4x4 sadly only fits 1

The 300 comes up a little short on the 4’ requirement.
Within HLG the 350r is a better fit.
I like chilled tech

This is for a 3x5 space at 18". in a 3x4 space you get fantastic PPFD over entire space

Just something to consider / look for when evaluating a light for your space

HLG is running a 25% off sale for the holiday…

I’m on a budget and it blows me away how much these lights cost lol

I know. In any light look for good diodes like Samsung 301 (older Samsung diodes are also used and it will be reflected in a lower price for the fixture). And, good PPFD coverage over the grow space.
If you are wanting to grow 2 plants, 2x4 space can do that quite well. It is easier and less expensive to find a good light for a 2x4 space than 3x4. HLG 320w would be a great fit. Even the 260XL. I am a fan of more power / watts that’s why I put 320 first.

Check out Green-Beamsdotcom. Some growers here have been very happy with them, they have quality components, along with a removeable driver with an 8-foot cord, at an affordable price. Great bang for the buck. @Fiz, @Graysin (who mentioned in another thread that I can’t recall, others who have Green Beams lights).

The GB2 $179 model description:

"The GB Series is an upgraded commercial grade full-cycle horticulture lighting solution.
Diodes - 576 top-bin diodes. Samsung LM301B and Epistar 660nm. Full Spectrum, which is ideal for all growth phases. Our light spectrum is tailored by 3000K warm white, 5000K neutral white, and 660nm deep red diodes to optimize growth.
Driver - 240W Meanwell HLG driver (the best Meanwell driver, as opposed to XLG or ELG).
Heatsink - 15mm thick, finned heatsink (compared to others, which are generally only 3mm). Made with 6063 aluminum, vs others that are made with 5052. 6063 allows better thermal conductivity = better heat transfer away from the diodes = greater efficiency and longer diode life.
Connection cords – All are IP 67 (waterproof and dustproof). 8 foot connection cord between heatsink and driver, which allows the driver to be mounted outside of a tent. Less heat inside the tent is highly beneficial.
Potentiometer for 0%-100% brightness adjustment.
Ideal for a 4 x 4ft vegetative area or a 3 x 3ft flowering area.
Unit comes with power cord, 4 stainless steel hooks and 2 adjustable rachet hangers for mounting.
Compare to HLG 300L Rspec. GB2 is nearly half the price.
2.7 μmol/joule
Dimensions - 25in x 8in "

Definitely on board with Green Beams to skip on the “name brand” price tag. I run the 240 watt. I’d love to show off my lady I am growing under it now but she’s in generally poor health from a fungus gnat infestation. So it doesn’t feel quite so Braggy.:joy: “here’s my dying plant isn’t this light great?”

@SynysterChris is the other GB user here. :v:

Edit to add: for what it’s worth, I have 3 HLG lights in my room too. A 650R, the mini Diablo (200 watt single board) and the 260 XL kit. The Green Beams is directly comparable to the 260 XL, and if I needed another light that did 240 watts, I’d be buying the Green Beams.

That said, the Diablo boards are indeed better from all perspectives. If you can swing for one of the lights with the Diablos, it’s worth your money. If you can’t, the GB is the budget alternative to the QB 288 models. It will be leaps and bounds better than Mars Hydro, Spider Farmer, etc etc. but it won’t match the Diablos.

There are other company’s and products. Any of the top tier lights are going to cost. But once you go there, you wont look back. The service I have received from HLG has been the very best I’ve ever seen. I was a manufactures rep in the pump, boiler, chiller and controls industry. I prided myself on quality products, knowledge of not only my products but everybody else’s products engineering ability’s and customer service. HLG has blown even my best efforts out of the water with there CS. I’ve been so impressed with the company if I were to come out of retirement and wanted to go back to work, I would beg them for a job. The things they have done for me as a hobby home grower have been fantastic!

HLG is outstanding with their customer service. So is Grove Bags (for curing and storage), and so is JR Peters (for the Jacks 3-2-1 nutrient line). These are the things that keep us recommending the same things over and over and over. It isn’t that other stuff won’t work (I’ll be honest and say when I personally think something is garbage, and even then it’s just my opinion) - it’s just that those folks make an effort to correct things that may go wrong if they do.

For some reason every time I type in it shows nothing. I cannot find that company on the internet
