i would like to suggest the new ac infinity bar light, the biggest ones they have are perfect for a 3x3 or a 4x4, i think they have another one a bit bigger as well that fits in a 5x5, but i didnt read much in to that one.
i did however purchase the 4x4 light which was 32"x32" that i use for the 3x3 tent.
specs say they got the best diodes available. and this light has shown growth rates so far that im super excited to see how the buds turn out.
i have nothing but all positives to say
fits perfect in the tent. i will also be getting the 5x5 $800 dollar one as well being 44"x44", it will fit basically corner to corner in my 4x4.
here are some specs and how it looks in my tent

Wall to wall, I like it! I once had a 350r at 34 inches wide in a 36 inch wide 2x3. The light was as intense at the side walls as the center. One has such limited room in a tent. It just makes good sense to get as much light as possible in the corners.

I’m so glad to see someone with the AC Ionframe lights! I have all AC equipment except my lights, and was wondering how it was. I have one spot left on the controller just begging to add that last piece.

I’ve got a 3x3 and now know to buy the lamp for the 4x4 if I decide to go that route.

I see this come up sometimes and have never chimed in. I know this thread started 2 years ago or more. I am an old component guy. I fixed Radios, TVs, Stereo equipment. Sam’s Photofacts was available at the downtown library in San Diego. Looks like this…

Yes I am Tube Old…Lol
This video will answer the difference in diodes…

So LM301B comes from the same place as the LM301H. They are tested and sorted by performance. Color, light output, heat and so forth.
301H just tests with more efficiency than 301B does. So B diodes might run a few degrees warmer than H, Perhaps the H has a slightly better light output. As the process improves and the batches get more efficient , then you may see LM301J or X or whatever marketing says will sell better.

Btw, This is the radio for the schematic,’
Super Heterodyne design.

Isn’t it great to have 40 different opinions here, and each could work for us? I’m going to start my own direction, with some of the guidance graciously given here. And some to answer my “why not” questions. I’m sure that I’ll be learning from my mistakes, and that’s a proven learning method. So far, I think lights is the most costly item here, and I’ve already learned the hard way. But my mistakes have gotten me through seedling stage, so I had time to make corrections. My good friend believes in California Light Works. Yes, they are US made, and they have the built-in fan(s) to cool them, they seem to be a solid product all around. But a guy by the name of Dr. Coco provides unbiased tests on grow lights, and I have not found where he tested the CLW lights, but I think my road is to go with Vipar Spectra, especially the rail system type when I can. There is no cooling fan. I embrace that, they have large aluminum heat sinks, and I’m shooting on the cheapest per-photon cost. I have a tent fan and carbon filter, and want a negative pressure anyway. I hope it’s OK to post this link, it helped open my eyes:

@Myfriendis410 — Can you please point me to any information or tutorials for how to go about building your own LED lights?

Here is the DIY light thread:

In my case I had a supply of aluminum (1 1/2 X 6" X 1/8" wall) which cuts the cost of building a light way down. Figure you are going to spend around $1/watt. Using top of the line LED’s you can run around 25 to 30 watts per square foot for good coverage and dense flower. I built mine as 4 individual fixtures so I can tailor a grow size without wasting electricity. Footprint is 22 X 36" and runs 240 watts at peak. Normally they don’t go any higher than 200 to 220 watts in peak flower.

cut to length

spacers cut

assembled heatsink

masked for white paint

Painted

Samsung EB strips attached using thermal double sided tape

Wired in series

And it works.

Cutter electronics was my source for the driver and EB strips. Hookup wire, thermal tape and an extension cord along with WAGO connectors to hook to the driver.

Example of one plant (outside for pictures). That was nearly a pound of flower.
