That looks sweet! It’s close to the house for some shelter too. Should work awesome.
Might be too close beyond seedling stage. Maybe move it out a foot or so from the deck. Long as any move happens before roots grow through the bottom it’s fine so I have time to decide and plan.
Nothing to update on yet really. I soaked seeds 24 hours then planted them. The GDP floated out of its shell in the soak and looked like too much trouble to try to save so it was replaced with a seed found in the Citradelic. Pollinator unknown. I never saw any nanners although I did pull a very tiny possible male flower from the base of Titan. It was already dried out whatever it was and crumbled so I was not able to get a clear enough look to tell. Been two and three days since planting and no signs of breaking through yet. Frequent rains may force a restart but I will give it an another 2-3 days before I start digging around looking for them.
The next few days should be great for sprouting.
Guess so shade because the Banner has broken ground since I checked yesterday. Now it’s the cit surprise’s turn.
Sweet! It should show up in the next day or two… if not today.
Absolutely beautiful grow weather.
The Citradelic seed didn’t pop so I dropped a Milky Way in water yesterday and planted this afternoon. This one has a taproot poking out of the shell so it’s confirmed germination this time. The Citradelic went in after 24 hours with no signs of splitting open. BB is looking good so far and hopefully will have a neighbor soon.
That’s a bummer on the Citradelic but I’m glad the Banner is rockin’ and the Milky Way germed and is planted. It should be up in 2-3 days.
The Banner auto is doing well. The Milky Way had the membrane stuck despite high humidity. I tried to save it by putting the dome back on for 24 hours and then surgery after that didn’t work. It is the first time I’ve tried 24 only and plant it (point up) in the forever home. It did crack and had just a hint of the taproot showing before planting but it rained hard later that day and I think it might have shifted out of upright. The root was more like a lazy loop than the hairpin hook. Either didn’t rescue soon enough or disturbing it seems to have stopped root growth in its tracks and the cotyledons never fully opened so it withered. Not letting it bother me. I figured it was going to be a little tough starting from seed this late outdoors with the sun heat and downpours. I’ll close with a couple pictures of the BB and the apparently cursed right hand side of the box.
Sorry to hear about the Milky Way. I never got any of my Bertha seeds to germ this season either. I’m glad to see the Banner is liking the box and starting to rock though. That’s a great strain.
Planting anything else on the right or letting it be?
Haven’t decided yet @Shadegrown. I’m studying for the DOT physical exam (2nd attempt) and I have not partaken for a week now. If that goes well then I’ll have to worry about random and renewal every 2 years (I think). Cheating is not as easy as it used to be and I can’t afford to take the chance ATM. BB is supposed to be a high yield strain and if it makes it to harvest should be plenty for the Mrs.
If I do replace it I think I’ll go back to solo cup so it can be moved to shelter until it is ready to transplant.
Best of luck on the dot exam! I definitely understand doing what you got to for work. I move mine in and out as long as I can. Yeah I understand Banners to be big producers and strong to boot. I hope it works out just right for bro.
Sounds like we have at least two things in common @Strungthru
Affinity for guitar (although I’ve never built one) and attempting sub irrigation for a grow so I figured I’d tag you in my journal. Belated welcome to the community btw.
Welcome @Strungthru! I already like you from your screen name.
If only he had lived. He is my #1 hero/legend ever since I first listened to the tribute album. Used to practice playing along with that until the tape wore out back in middle school. Kinda fake booking it by ear wishing I could get to be that good. I was able to play a pretty good version of Dee at one point but it wouldn’t sound so good these days. Thanks @Shadegrown I might actually get the acoustic out and play some after seeing this.
I knew I liked you OQ!
I share those exact same sentiments. Randy was, is and always will be my favorite. The Tribute gig is phenomenal.
I’ve been lazy about keeping track of exact dates but this is today and it’s two weeks above ground give or take a day. Also included a pic of the ac condensate line behind the box that will provide sub irrigation when the roots get there. Recent reading suggests I should probably disconnect and reconnect at intervals to make sure the lower zone is not staying too wet. Also seems like a good idea to have protection from the rain that isn’t permanent. The first few days it poured a couple times and I was sure it was going to get stem rot but I was lucky it seems.
That’s looking awesome! I can tell the Banner is going to love it there. Nice going OQ.
Thanks shade and also thank you friends for the support and love. I don’t acknowledge all of you by name very often because I’m lazy and I don’t use a real keyboard but it’s not unnoticed. I’ve been trying to be a bit more social as of late and also put a bit more content here so it’s not so boring since there’s not much happening with the grow yet. Thanks a million everyone.
