Banana Kush Fem

Hey all!

I trust you’re all doing well out there is cannabis land! Here’s my progress so far since the 20th of Jan! Banana Kush Fem 4 plants, soon to go into the 4x8, growing on a 4x4 side of the tent. Any tips or former growers of this strain I greatly welcome your input. I’m using Bergs nutes, Jungle Growth when they move to the big pots, 2 1000watt Full spectrum Sunraise LED, 2 exhale CO2 bags I activated on the 25 to get up and running in time for when they go into the tent. Anything I should know or do to maximize my first grow? Temperature range and a humidity preference for this plant?

Keep Growing,
BGL

Looks like from the picture you’re using a warm color cfl bulb (2700k?). If you switch to a cooler temp bulb like a daylight (6500k) cfl bulb it will help keep the plants from stretching out like that . The blue spectrum promotes shorter bushier growth . :v:

I have two bulbs going, one CFL coil and a 6500 blue tube. So I’ll ditch the coil light and see if it stops.

Thank you I will do this now.

:+1: if the tube fixture has a lens over the bulb toss the lens. Girls are looking healthy despite being a bit leggy and you can always bury the stem when you re-pot them

That’s a great idea!

Welcome to the forum.

When you transplant bury the long stem about half to 3/4 of the way in the dirt. The stem will root and the plant will not fall over.

The lights that you have are only 165 watts from the wall which give you 330 watts total. Kind of the rule of thumb I go by is approximately 40 watts per square foot with LEDs. You will be able to grow and harvest but the buds probably won’t be super dense.

Can you elaborate a bit more? My understanding is they produced 1000watts while only consuming 165watts of power from the wall.

Unfortunately that is some of the miss information from the sellers on amazon. There is not a multiplier in the light all you can get out of them is 165 watts. They advertise that they have 96 leds that can handle 15watts each but supply them with at lot less than the 15 watts. In the add they state the PAR value but not the PPFD which is the density of the light per meter, this is a more important factor because it tells you the density of the light at a distance. One other thing I could not find in their add was how much the PAR changes when you get away from the center of the light. If you look on the Horticulture Lighting Group website it will show the light pattern for many of their lights, this will give you a better understanding of what I’m trying to explain. Do a quick search on PAR, PPF and PPFD. There are a lot of really good articles that can help explain.

I was looking at buying these.

If your going to spend that much I’d recommend that you look at the HLG-260 XL. 2 of those would do everything you want them to do and I think you will be much happier. The kit is not difficult to put together.

@BamaGrowLabz, I agree with all of the above. It’s sound advice. Most all of us got lured into that mumbo jumbo bs about the LED and Blurple lights. 1,000 watts, maybe at 600-700 volts but not at 120 volts. The HLG are a little pricey but, well worth the extra cash. Lighting is gonna be at the top of the list of requirements to grow premium bud. I just put 3 HLG 260xl rspec in my 5x5. I bought a few of the cheaper LEDs on the internet and was able to return most of them and the others, I got the price greatly reduced and use them for other projects. I started with an air cooled 1,000 watt HID setup and as soon as I got it figured out, I switched to the HLG lights. I am much happier and so are my plants. Good luck with your grow and I am tuned to watching brother :+1: :+1: :+1::+1::v:

Yes it seems that HLG must be the way to go for lights. I will do some searching today. Thank you all for pointers so far. I don’t mind purchasing good equipment!

@Bubblehead do either of y’all have a preference as to where to purchase this light from?

I got mine directly from the HLG site and bought the kit. You are probably going to want to purchase some 16/2 SO cord and put your drivers on the exterior of the tent/grow room. I hope that this helps :+1::+1::+1::+1::v:

I also have some 400 or 600w HPS lights should I have one or both going?

Are these two of these sufficient?
