Hey everyone. I’m finishing up my 2nd grow and I think it’s time to reevaluate my entire grow.
Right, now I’m growing autos with Natures Living Soil and water in a 2x4 with an HLG 280xl. The claim is it is add water only and I’m realizing it doesn’t work for me at all. I’ve had successful grows but a lot deficiencies and I know I can do better,
I was thinking of going with the Autopot XL system with 2 pots and then using Jacks. However, I am super confused when I go to Jacks website. What exactly am I looking for with the 321 method.
Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
2 grows is not a lot. The first change I would make is to grow photoperiods. Autos are touted to be for beginners. In some respects that may be true. However, it takes some experience to do it well.
What are you looking for? It seems to lean toward no fuss, plant and go, then harvest based on water only as your first choice. Maybe I’m mistaken and you wanted to get some experience and then move on from there.
Jack’s and autopots is a great combination. Add coco with some perlite and you are ready to grow. It is not a panacea however. Issues come up that need to be sorted out. I use Jack’s and coco in both autopots and when top feeding. In some respects I like top feeding more. Time commitment is the key requirement.
What I have in two autopots now. Day 43 since flipping
I second that advise. I see so many beginners starting with autos and have problems due to thier inexperience. Photos are so much more forgiving to inexperienced growers. Since i went to Jacks and roots organic i have all but eliminated issues in my last 3 grows.
It would be good for your grow knowledge to understand what happened, that water only in living soil didnt work for you. What is the condition and type of the water you are using? It could have chemical in it that was killing of your herd (microbes and fungi). If you dont figure it out you may just be trading one problem for another is what Im getting at.
If you switch to jacks I have heard you can send them a water sample and for 40 bucks they will derive a nute regimine specificly for your water source.
Ebay is better for Jack’s. You can get a 6lb kit (3lb part A, 2lb part B (calcium nitrate), and 1lb Epsom (magnesium sulfate). This will probably do 5 - 2 plant grows.
For water only, check out Earth Dust. Amend it with organic, cannabis friendly soil. It’s organic, and you really only need a water filter. I got a cheap rv hose filter on amazon for like $18. I just started my first plant with the Earth Dust amended in Roots Organic 707 about a week ago and so far, so good.
But Jack’s, whether you use it in soil or coco, is great. Easy to mix (always mix part A and epsom FIRST, then add part B after fully dissolved), easy to adjust for plants needs, and lasts a long freaking time.
I’m going to buy the 2Pot XL system, along with the air domes. They recently released a base to eliminate the need for clay pebbles. I’m also going to have my water tested by Jacks to make sure I’m dialed in for everything.
Next set of questions are as follows.
I’m going to do a mix of coco and perlite as my medium. Is there a preferred brand for both of these?
I saw some people mention buying the 321 from Ebay. Is there anything special I need to be looking for so I don’t get scammed?
As always thank you so much everyone. This wouldn’t be possible without all of you!
Autopot 2 pot XL with fabric pots, the new airbase and airdomes.
Extra tubbing, shut off valves, and all that fun stuff.
2 output air pump for the domes.
The Jacks 321 kit from their website.
Bottle of Fish Sh!t
I know I still need to buy the coco, perlite, and a wave maker. Does anyone recommend a brand for these things?
Also!!! Is there anything else I should add in order to succeed?
