Hello all,
I just completed my girst grow with jacks 321. im pretty happy with the results and ease of use. This grow im going to be using autopots geo pots for the first time. the system i bought has the new flood valves that claim to clog less with organic tank feeding so I plan to feed from the tank/resivor. Im interested in any and all advice/tips anyone has for using jacks with autopot system. The only other thing I use for my grow is recharge. I was wondering what would be the best way to handle adding it? should i add it to resivor or maybe just water in from the top every so often? I know not supposed to really top water on bottom feed system just wasnt sure best way to add recharge. Thanks all for any advice.
I’m planning on buying auto pots as well for my next grow. I want either a 4 or maybe five pots. There are so many options. Cloth or plastic. Container size. Etc. 3.9 gal or 6.6 gal XL set. Air domes. Soil or Coco.
I went with 5 gal fabric pots. i did opt for airdomes also even thou im not sure if fabric pots benefit from them? With my work schedule i do believe my plants get a lil thurst from time to time between waterings so im hoping this will help. I feel you on all options. I studied on what to buy for days. was leaning toward a DWC system but didnt want to buy a chiller. I hope in thw end I made a good choice for what I need. I tend to read myself out of vuying things instead of into it. lol I probably over think most things
Love your reply! I feel you. I’ve been mulling over autopot options. I think I’m going with 5 gal geo pot system. With one extra 9 gal for a total of 5 bags. Or I could go with the tray and use any pot I want? I need to fit it all in a 1m x 1M tent
I’ve been running auto pots and Jacks for a little over 3 years Growmie and tried several brands of microbes. Ultimately it settles in the reservoir, wouldn’t recommend top feeding these with a bottom wicking system. You can fill your trays with just mixed microbes but honestly I saw no benefit of coco and microbes
What type and size pots did you use? Also what substrate? I’m learning all these new words like “substrate” instead of dirt.
I have the old 2 gallon and 3.8 gallon plastic pots and the newer trays that use 3 or 5 gallon gallon fabric pots. The medium I use is coco with a mix of perlite
Like OG I have been using Autopots for about 3 years. I use Jack’s and 3 gallon fabric pots in coco.
I would strongly suggest the addition of silica to your mix. It’s necessary for plant health and trichome production.
Air domes are not necessary in fabric pots. Just be sure to set them up with hydroton in the bottom 2 inches or so to attenuate wicking of nutrient solution.
WOW I didn’t know silica helps trichome production. This is the first grow ever using silica. It’s got its pros and cons for me. It truly strengthens stems and stalk. The con for me was I snapped the main cola clean off of one of my girls as there was no give in her cola branch due to silica doing its job.
Ironically enough, I was able to reattach the cola with some gummy multivitamins, 3 pencils, and some masking tape. (Who knew)
The trichome stalks are composed primarily of silica.
Currently have the Autopot Spring Pots 3g (soil) with 12g res. Have been running them 3+years now and have always had Jacks 321 on hand. Haven’t had a single problem running it at all from the res. I usually make enough for 3 days so the ph doesn’t change too much. I also run silica, microbes, molasses, fish sh!t, and a couple other things when I have them on hand with the jacks.
Never had any buildup or blockages from the jacks. I do keep a pump/ wave maker in my res to keep it constantly mixed.
Recharge is microbes and can run them straight in the res. I use microbial Mass pro and runs through fine. Have only found one nutrient line that has clogged up the system and created other problems.
Good info! Thanks
great info everone thank you all. i will add silica to my recipe, thank you also for recommending hydroton i didnt know that was recommended.
